Where Would I Rather Be?

May 27th, 2010

Where would I rather be? I’d rather be in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

I could easily swap the constant rain, cold and depressiveness of Sydney for a week on the Adriatic Sea coast. A popular tourist destination, it still preserves it’s old world charm and culture.

There is the Old town and the New town, Old town being a town built within enormous walls that wrap around the entire town. You can walk around the top of these walls, which sit over the town and over the Adriatic Sea and take in some of the most breath taking views your eyes will EVER see.

The beauty is beyond anything your eyes can comprehend. Turquoise water which you can see fish and the sea floor, small boats, markets, authentic Croatian food and wonderful wines enrich the charm of this town.

Being so rich in history does not mean they are behind the times. They have the best in unique fashion designers, as well as the big brands. Jewellery designers line the hidden alley ways, which can take days for you to discover all the hidden stores in all the nooks and crannies. The bars and restaurants line the cobblestone streets, piazzas and alleys, people are happy and life is good.

The amazing thing is pretty much every single person that lives there is beautiful. Of every country I have ever been to in my life, I have never seen so many beautiful people.

Despite the bad publicity Dubrovnik has had over the years with a tourist murdered from Australia, it is still a beautiful city. As you would in any European city, have your wits about you, be security conscious and don’t wander off with people you don’t know or in dark alley ways.

I’d suggest staying at the Villa Celeste. A luxurious and beautifully appointed Resort right at the entrance of Old town. From around $1500 per night, you know you’re staying in the best place! Cheaper accommodation is available and the good thing is the standard of hotels in Croatia are quite good. Images attached.

So where would I rather be right now? Dubrovnik, Croatia.
