It’s after 5am on Christmas Eve as I write this, unable to sleep. At 1:30am my home was broken into by a burglar, who went through my entire apartment, sifting through everything I own – while I was sleeping.

I was woken up by a flashlight in my bedroom, while he was unplugging my iPhone from it’s charger that was on my bedside table about 30cm from my head.

It took a while to figure out what was stolen. My iPhone (my life), some white gold Bulgari rings and an amazing Swarovski crystal watch. Some of my most valuable and sentimental possessions.

As I woke up and chased the burglar out of my apartment, I saw him jump off my balcony (many floors up!).

Now whatever you do this Christmas, make sure you secure your property before going away on holidays, going out for NYE or even leaving the house on Christmas day – these pathetic excuses for human life do exist and will go to almost any length to get what they want.

I have 24 hour security, my apartment is secure and up high – but this doesn’t mean it won’t happen to you – so be aware.

As the event runs through my mind, I think about how I could have been seriously hurt, especially if he had a weapon. At the time, I had no issues confronting him because of my rage, but in a way, it’s lucky it wasn’t confrontational and only materials things were taken.

A message to the burglar: I know you will probably read this (if you can read) because my website and cartoon is on the iPhone cover and screen. You will be caught. You left prints on everything. Don’t try selling the jewelry either – you’ll also be caught as all the stores have the serial numbers of each item. I hope you broke a leg when you jumped. Merry Christmas.

PS – Thankyou JING tea, Café Del Mar and my Glasshouse Gold Frankincense and Myrrh candle for calming me down as I mend some very sore and bruised hands from banging down a door! How very dramatic!

Save Your Herbs With The Eva Solo Flower Pot At Top 3!

Friday, December 17th, 2010

After I finished having my apartment renovated, I got the balcony done. Waterfall, dining table and chairs and pots, urns and potplants. On one end, I had 6 pots of herbs, because they are aromatic, they look cute and I love using them in my cooking!

Unfortunately, after about 6 weeks, every herb died. To follow that… The rest of the plants died. Evergreens! I thought they were never meant to die!! No one told me I had to water plants ALL the time!

Well now I have a good excuse to try the herb garden again. Plus it is also a great gift idea this Christmas. So what is this amazing device that will keep my herbs ALIVE?

Designed by Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbaek for Eva Solo is the Eva Solo Flowerpot, a self-watering pot to keep your plants ALIVE!!!

Ok, so it does require a little bit of work – you need to fill the clear vase under the pot with water once every 7-10 days.

The way it works is with a wick that hangs from the bottom of the pot into the vase below. The vase in the base of the pot holds the water for the wick to bring up to the soil as the plant requires it. Very much like those citronella lanterns. It is the most simple idea, made funky, made well and affordable.

What I also love about these pots is that you don’t just use them for herbs, you can put them anywhere around the house and not have to worry about drips, drops and stains.

A really great idea is to use them on your bedside table, add some contrast and texture to your room.

Giant LEGO Brick Storage Boxes Are Fun, Playful And Practical

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

I came across these in a magazine and thought they are absolutely fantastic!

As a kid, I was obsessed with LEGO… and now as an adult, I have to relive my youth with this playful storage alternative, under licence  from LEGO themselves.

They can be clicked together to create whatever structure you want, but you’d need many many pieces to build anything. They are great storage for a kids room, office or something a little bit different at home.

Unfortunately they are not yet available in Australia to purchase, but you can order them from the UK (the website says they don’t do it to Australia, but they have exceptions). Check out the site by clicking HERE.

Add A Glamourous Touch To Your Home With James Richardson’s Pasha Armchair

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

It’s obvious that I love home seating. To me, I think it tells alot about a person, just like shoes. Think of home many times you’ve walked into someone’s home and judged the room by the lounge or chair that is in it.

This glamorous armchair made by Pedrali for James Richardson called the Pasha warps the idea of a classical armchair, created with a perfect balance of innovation and tradition.

It’s an elegant armchair, made of clear injection moulded polycarbonate with a stunning houndstooth cushion. The arm chair is also available with a gloss finish in black or white with solid black or white cushions.

It’s also versatile – you can use it indoors or outdoors and is manufactured to withstand heavy use.

Josh & Louis – L’originale Collection

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

As I’ve mentioned before, my apartment is a mix of a few different styles, including modern, Rococo and French Provincial.

I’m always on the search for a stand-out piece, and I think I’ve found the perfect piece for my bedroom.

This is the Josh & Louis L’originale Salon Chair is the first of the first of the collection, inspired by the opulence of Rococo and King Louis XV charm. The bright colours bring out the modernity and character of today, but still showing the eccentricity of Kings and Queens that would have once had their dramatic bottoms placed firmly in them.

The detailed frame is hand-carved Mahogany finished with a glass-like lacquer. The upholstery is Italian leather, of course of the finest grade, and it is bordered with nickel coated studding. They are comfortable and supportive, thanks to the webbed and sprung base.

They are a real collectors item, they are beautiful, they are comfortable and they are definitely the perfect piece for my eccentric taste in my eccentric bedroom!

If you are looking for me, I’ll be at Macleay on Manning in Potts Point purchasing it! All I need to do is decide which colour?

Available for around $3,270.

Szilvia Gyorgy’s Hand Thrown Masterpieces

Friday, October 1st, 2010

If you read the Abode section of this site, you will know I love perfect lighting, unique lighting and mood lighting.

I was shopping at Planet during the week and was drawn to the amazing display of lamps to the right hand side of the entrance to the divine store.

Szilvia Gyorgy is the designer of these amazing hand thrown porcelain lights. They are hand thrown, cut and altered. There are gaps throughout it which diffuse light beautifully, creating a warm and wholesome ambiance.

The tea lights start from $77, then the lamps range from $300 to $800.

Definately a beautiful artwork which would display perfectly on a tall pedestal in a hallway as a sculpture and a light.

Have a closer look at them at Planet – 114 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills – (02) 9211 5959

Can’t Find An Entertainment Unit For Your Home? Be Creative And Create One!

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

When I was renovating and refurnishing my apartment, it took a long time to get exactly what I wanted. I could not find what I wanted anywhere in Sydney, Melbourne, or anywhere else really. I was after an entertainment unit that suited the rest of my apartment which is a mix of eccentric styles – Rococo, French Provincial, First Wives Club and early 1900’s glam.

All of this searching and searching and searching for an entertainment unit that would suit a huge beige quilted leather lounge, a deer head and dramatic chandelier stressed me out. Nothing had character, charm or elegance. It wasn’t the cost either, I just simply could not find what I wanted.

So after many months, I resulted to being creative and creating my own entertainment unit out of antique trunks. Think of the beginning of the movie Titanic, when they help is transporting the luggage of the wealthy families from the car to the ship, well that’s what I wanted. And that’s what I got. You’re wondering what I would do with them? Well I bought one enormous trunk, complete with internal drawers, racks and another suitcase inside. The second is a trunk by the same designer. Both of these were originally from the UK, both built in 1902 and both covered in travel stickers from around the World. The other 2 trunks were used in World War II to transport military weapons and ammunition. Pretty cool hey?!

After I got them all professionally cleaned, the large one was measured up and a sheet of glass cut for the LCD TV to sit on.

After shuffling them around, I eventually figured out how the sit nicely in my loungeroom.

They are warm, they look amazing, they are different and always a talking point when people come over. The bonus part is I know a little about the history of them.

Where do you get them? You can get them all over the place, mainly in 2nd hand stores. But because I refuse to go to 2nd hand stores, I found them online and had them delivered to a re-conditioner where all they did was clean them up a little and that’s it!

Total cost? Altogether I spent just over $1,000. Alot less then I was expecting to spend, but a million times happier then anything I would have found in any store.

Cute Little Golden Bank In The Form Of A Pig

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Bank in the Form of a Pig he’s called. Pretty obvious why!

I saw this fat little piggy sitting on the shelf and he caught my eye. He’s cute, he’s gold and can fit up to $10,000 of notes!

He will kindly gobble up your spare cash, mainly coins and keep them safe. He is made of resin and marble, he weighs a tonne but he is just so strikingly cute, I can’t help myself! He is moulded from a real piggy, one that died of natural causes – poor piggy.

Lick Of Paint – Berger Premium Launches New Colour Range

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Written by Tegan Brideson for

Lick Of Paint
Berger Premium launches its new colour range, with personalised names to boot, as Tegan Brideson discovers.

Like watching paint dry? Didn’t think so. However it’s about to become a whole lot more fun as Berger Premium is set to launch their new colour range in August.

Flexing new colours extending from the nationwide ‘Name That Colour’ competition that ran in February, contemporary style is reflected by continuously reinventing their colour offer; six newly named paint colours will be included in the launch.

It’s impossible to go past Chocolate Shadow and Outback Gold, Ashen Graze has a nice ring to it and Harry’s Red Wagon is a nice visual link to the paint colour. Frosted Puddle and Helium Blue bring them home.

Julie Johnston, Colour Developer for Berger said “whites and neutrals are always in vogue.” When it comes to selecting paint colour either interior or exterior, a lot of thought goes into it. Not only is it a time consuming task that can’t be changed as often as one might select a new outfit if they change their mind, it can be stressful too. It’s surrounding you everyday.

Johnston has recognised that people are embracing neutrals and whites by “introducing a more comprehensive range,” she says.

“Along with these, we’ve added more charcoals and greys, which continue to grow in popularity and are widely used for both interior and exterior decorating projects.” The shape of things to come.

The Skohorn Made Sexy By Charles Wilson Designs

Monday, July 19th, 2010

I found it hard to place this one in a category – Vogue or Abode? Abode won.

This beautiful skohorn by Charles Wilson designs deserves a place on a wall in your home where it can be seen, and not hidden away in the laundry or shoe room.

It’s magnetic, so when you’re done with it, you simply attach the shoe horn to it’s base magnetically. Long gone are the days of losing things when there is a specific spot for them.

It’s elegant and curvaceous shape is luring. Made of stainless steel and nickel-plated zinc alloy.

Available from Top 3 by design for $179.

Thinking Of A Unique Rug For The House?

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Ok, so this one is going to stir the Greenie pot, but before I go any further, these animals are from domestic farms or from population control programs because believe it or not, as beautiful as a creature may be, these particular ones are regarded as pests in South Africa in some regions. These animals are not endangered or protected.

Moving past this, the Zebra skin available at Space furniture is one of those things you look at and think, WOW. It’s a glorious creature, which you feel sorry for, but then look at and appreciated it’s beauty.

I need not say more, but if this is something you are into, you can’t go past it. Simply stunning and a simple $4,850.

Falling In Love With Tobias Grau

Monday, June 21st, 2010

Falling In Love has never been easier. One look at it and you’re hooked. You are falling and falling and falling in love.

Ok, maybe that’s a little extreme – I didn’t fall in love that much with this light, but I have to say I do like it very much. It’s just so simple. It’s a polished black or silver aluminium sphere, with a black, yellow or red cable and blue or black nest.

Nest? What’s a nest? The next is the little piece of rubber that sits under the sphere to keep it in place and stabilised. No one wants a $649 light rolling off and smashing off the side table do they now?!

It’s a versatile light, you can use it to direct light on a specific item, you can light up a dull wall, a picture or painting, a corner or a shelf. You can use it as mood lighting or as a reading lamp. Point it where you want, because the LED’s light up so perfectly.

It’s easy to use with smooth touch buttons concealed cleanly on the back of the sphere.

Available at ECC in Darlinghurst.

Functionality & Simplicity By Nina Jobs

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Functionality and simplicity are two things that are never too far from Nina Jobs. She creates things that are versatile and can be used around the house, at the same time creating designer pieces that stand out.

Fia is the newest product, use it as either a carafe or a vase. As a vase, the crystal sphere sits under the vase. As a carafe, the sphere sits on top. It’s beautiful, it’s clean and practical.

Available with the crystal sphere in four colours, black, clear, pink and amber, I think it would make a very sophisticated addition to your bar. Purchase online HERE for around $105.

The Angle Bed At Planet Furniture

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

I’m always trying to find unique pieces for the home, whether it’s for the lounge room, kitchen, or bedroom. I’ve found this incredible ‘Angle’ bed at Planet with is superbly made, designed and looks amazing.

The strength and density of spotted gum, with it’s sharp elegantly angled legs make this a rare piece for the bedroom. It’s the legs on an angle that make you do a double-take, wondering how the hell the bed balances this way! Most other timbers wouldn’t allow you to give the legs such a dramatic angle, but being a native Australian hardwood, spotted gum allows you to do this as it is about 3 times denser than most other hardwoods form around the world. Also with the legs angling in as they do, you are less likely to hit your feet on the bed when walking around it, which I have done many times.

It’s a very sleek and modern design that doesn’t take up too much space and has quite an understated impact. This is mainly due to the mirrored angle of the legs and the headboard reducing the impact of the mattress, making the bed appear smaller than it is. The bed I’ve pictured above is a Queen, but store owner Ross said “many people have mistaken it for a double due to this design feature.”

All of Planet’s furniture is made to order and they are always able to tailor each piece to best suit its intended space. Spotted gum comes in a range of tones, from light through to dark, figured or without and cooler or warmer tones, all of which can be specified when ordering. This gives you an amazing choice to suit any scheme and taste.

Queen size Angle bed is $3900 and King size Angle bed is $4200. Double and single also available.

Eccentric Glamour On An Armhair At Edit

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

EDIT is renowned for their stunning designs and creative fabrics, which are so elegant, yet somewhat scream eccentricity.

This simply stunning upholstered wingback ‘Chandelier’ arm chair is one of the standout pieces inside the store. Made from hemp, it’s natural, comfortable and made by skilled and passionate Australians.

Imagine this armchair in a stark white modern room, begging for one piece of standout furniture with colour, but also character. Or imagine it inside a bleached timber Hampton’s style home with white exposed beams, natural carpets, books, lamps and a glass of Scotch swirling away by the fire. Divine.

Upholstered Wingback armchair in EDIT ‘Chandeliers’ hemp – $2,900.

World’s First, Best And Most Innovative Toaster By Magimix

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

An absolute world first, a glass toaster! It’s genius and I love it.

Magimix, a French brand has made the revolutionary toaster. It is made of glass on the sides so you can monitor the bread as it toasts. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t use it for that, to me it’s more of an eye catching thing that looks great!

Due to hit our Australian stores later this year, it will set you back roughly $300, but a price in Australia is not concrete yet.

Have a look at the video below to get a good idea of it.

Crazy Chandelier By Serien Called Poppy Deck

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Intricately decorated, this funky looking, almost crazy Alice in Wonderland styled chandelier is the creation of Ulrich Beckert and Georg Soanca-Pollack called Poppy Deck/Wand by Serien.

The extravagant chandelier has 15 arms with hand-blown glass and flexible bi-metal leaves. The amazing thing is that the leaves open up a couple of minutes after the light is switched on.

It’s kooky and and slightly eccentric, but it’s just beautiful and so well made. Definately a piece to draw attention in most homes. It commands alot of attention! Something else that will get your attention is the price – $3799.

You can see it at ECC Lighting and Furniture on Flinders St, Darlinghurst.

FSP Collections Springbok Cushions – The Wild Addition To Your Home

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Earlier this week I wrote about FSP Collection bags for men and women (click HERE to see), made of beautiful and luxurious Springbok from South Africa. But FSP Collection have also got cushions made of the divine Springbok hide, distributed by Djaafar.

The leather used to manufacture this Collection is environmentally friendly. All hides are obtained through South African Government approved animal herd reduction programs.

The springbok skin cushions are a distinctive accessory for the home – exquisitely tactile, resilient and  unique. They would suit most styles of décor – eclectic, modern, African, Tribal, Asian inspired. It could even be stretched out to being a real point of difference in a federation or Rococo style (which a black one would look great in my place!). It’s suitability is quite limitless.

Winter Is Here! So Is Your New (minimink) Throw!

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Winter is here! Much quicker then I thought.

So I’ve brought the heater out, I’ve brought the winter throws and blankets and also brought out the Winter foods.

When I took out the throw for my lounge, I thought it was time for a new one. I had looked all over for one, but just couldn’t find a nice black one that was plain and simple. So I looked online to find one and came across a company called (minimink). At first I thought it was just for babies and children, but it wasn’t. It also caters for adults. So I continued looking and really liked what I saw.

I ordered myself the Large Double Sided Fur Rug, which looked great in the photos. It arrived a couple of days later and I was really excited to open it up. I opened it up and unwrapped my new big and soft throw in Ebony. It is the most luxurious throw I have ever felt. Thick, soft and so warm. I LOVE it.

The throw is absolutely amazing and it’s huge! It’s big enough to wrap me up while I gorge on pizza and Underbelly. It measures 200cm x 150cm so it’ll fit the top of a queen size bed. It is so decadent, I found it was hard to find something that has double sided faux fur, as most on the market are thin and only soft on one side. Even if it is double-sided, they are still really thin and not as decadent.

I have it on my lounge, but I also carry it to bed with me to, when I’m watching a movie or on the computer working in bed. I’ve added the photos of it in my apartment.

Because I loved it so much, I have also purchased the cutest Russian Faux Fur hats for children, there are also adults hats too! I also noticed that Jennifer Lopez is a fan of the brand!

I contacted (minimink) afterwards to say thankyou for having such a great product! I really wanted to spread the word about it, so I thought it would be great to get a discounted price for all the readers of my site.

The wonderful guys at (minimink) are giving a 15% DISCOUNT on this rug by quoting the following when you make your purchase online: adrianlovesminimink

The entire range of products are available in Australia, New Zealand and Worldwide.

Blue Agava & Cacao In Oval Room Blue

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Last week I popped into the Jo Malone store in Woollahra to purchase a candle for my place as I do on occasion. It’s been a while since I was last there, but since then, they have a Limited Edition candle in collaboration with Farrow & Ball, makers of exquisite decorator paints and wallpapers.

To Jo Malone, this collaboration is important because it’s not only scent that fills the home from a Jo Malone candle, it’s also colour. The colour experts have created a range of coloured candles and scents, which define exclusivity and grandeur in a home. There is a colour to suit your décor, and a scent to suit your lifestyle.

My favourite is the sensual Blue Agava & Cacao in Oval Room Blue. The Oval Room Blue is typically a late 18th, early 19th century colour, which is a time of grandeur, eccentricity and luxury. When it come to the scent, it’s sweet lime and grapefruit, with the sap of blue agava, white lily and geranium. Mixed in with a raw cinnamon and the cacao, it all combines into this luxurious harmony.

Perfect for those nights in, reading a book with a glass of wine, it gives the room a thick presence, with warmth and depth. Grab your Missoni throw and relax!

Burning time is 34 hours – $110.

Available at Jo Malone – 110 Queen Street, Woollahra – (02) 9362 5555

This Weeks Featured Fresh Flowers – Kale

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

This is one of the most unique flowers I’ve ever seen. Looking more like a decorative vegetable, this miniature cabbage looking flower called Kale adds a different dimension to your floral display.

I have it displayed in my house on it’s own, because I personally love one kind of flower rather then a range of different one in a bouquet.

Kale is a member of the cabbage family, and is quite similar to the broccoli. It withstands temperatures below freezing, so it’s going to be readily available through out winter. It’s available in two colours, the green as pictured and also in a beetroot colour, which looks spectacular!

They will last for up to 6 weeks if you look after them following a few simple steps. Make sure you cut a small amount off the bottom of the stem every 2 days on an angle and remove any yellow leaves. Make sure the vase is shallow in water too.

Add something a little different to your home!

How To Tell A Women By Her Handbag

Monday, May 10th, 2010

My interview with the glamorous Kathryn Eisman established in her words that the one thing you need in your home on the coffee table is a copy of her latest book “How To Tell A Women By Her Handbag”.

So many questions about a woman’s handbag can reveal so many answers. What does your bag say about you? Does your ‘it’ bag reveal you to be a style-obsessed fashionista who will do anything or anyone to get ahead? Are you the floral straw-bag girl with squeaky clean hair and a heart full of dirty secrets?

With forensic precision and cutting wit, Kathryn Eisman helps to identify our own handbag personas and those of our family, friends and foes.

From the ‘I don’t mind being daggy as long as I’m comfortable’ bum-bag lover to the Hermes-clutching-heiress, we are all bag ladies – now it’s time to discover exactly which one.

This is definately a gorgeous coffee table accessory and also fun reading for any girl… Or guy…

Screw This!

Friday, April 30th, 2010

I’ve found the coolest coffee table ever! The Adelta Screw! So cool, so funky, so perfect for the creative person with a creative mind.

When I look at them, I love them. If it suited my apartment, I would have it with out a doubt. It’s like something you’d see on First Wives Club.

Made of fibreglass and available in 5 colours and 2 sizes, it could make a great talking point. Having been around for almost 20 years, it’s not something that’s fresh and new, but the fact that it’s iconic proves it’s style that stands the test of time.

My Fireplace Dilemma

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Ok, so here is my dilemma…

I have a mansion. I have heaps of cash. I want something outrageous to keep me and my home warm. I want something made of leather. I want it to look hot. I want everyone to comment on it and talk about how much money I have after they leave my house.

What would I buy?

I’d buy the EcoSmart Zeta fireplace.

Designed by architect John Dimopoulos in Sydney, this is sure to be the ultimate talking point.

Carefully handmade from timber, French leather, stainless steel and glass which sits elegantly on the swivel base. A stunning flame disperses from the middle of the unit, creating an amazing effect, as well as substantial heat.

There are 4 colours to choose from for the leather, it is fuelled by denatured ethanol and is environmentally friendly.

Price you ask? $10,590. How long to wait after you order it? 12 weeks.

This Weeks Featured Fresh Flowers – Pink Ice Protea

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

This weeks featured fresh flowers in my home are the Pink Ice Protea.

Originally a South African native, they eventually came over to Australia and made itself at home over here.

Available now, make sure you keep them in a well lit room as they don’t like the dark – they will develop black leaves. Don’t apply tap water to the leaves as it will cause black spotting and never use flower food on natives.

The Pink Ice Protea has a woody stem which means it’s thirsty all the time and drinks ALOT! Top up the water every day.

A beautiful flower, which has a subtle refreshing bush smell, will add rustic charm to any room.

State Of The Art Technology And Looks With Bang & Olufsen

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

We all want nice things. When designing, furnishing and decorating a home, one of the last things you think of incorporating into the plan is a telephone. A phone is just a phone you may say. But boy is that untrue.

Think of a beautiful telephone as a brand new LCD tv or a dishwasher. You want the best and best looking one.

Bang & Olufsen have just released their new range of phones called BeoCom 5. Once again, they have created a piece of technological art which could adapt quite easily into almost any décor, or room of the house. For many many years, B&O have been creating iconic phones, this one being the newest addition.

After a personalised viewing, I got to use the phone. Now apart from it’s looks and styling, the thing you will notice most is the sound and the clarity. UNBELIEVABLE! Like nothing I’ve heard before, especially for a cordless phone with a speakerphone.

It’s a nifty unit, storage for up to 400 contacts, the flexibility of customising the display, layout and colours. It has two phone lines built into it – one for work and one for home?

Available in aluminium or black, either will always find a place in the home.

The price you ask? Well there are 3 packages to choose from:

Basic Set-up  1 x handset, 1 x speaker phone, 1 x base station = $1,265

The “Family of Phones”  3 x handsets, 2 x chargers, 1 x speaker phone, 1 x base station = $2,715

The “Grand Family of Phones”  8 x handsets, 6 x chargers, 2 x speaker phones, 1 x base station = $6,535

Have a look at them and have a play, and fall in love. You’ll want to use the house phone alot more, while also creating a talking point with an iconic feature. It’s like nothing else on the market.

Don’t Just Throw Anything Down The Toilet

Monday, April 19th, 2010

I’ve been using Renova toilet paper for a while, mainly because it matches my apartment.

Sounds strange doesn’t it? Matching toilet paper to your bathroom is strange indeed, but if it’s available and possible, I will most certainly do it.

No more of this white paper, teddy bears, dolphins and stupid ugly embossing. Renova have the answer to sprucing up the toilet and having something for your guests to talk about when they finish pooping.

I have the black toilet paper because it matches my bathroom and rest of the apartment. There are other colours available here in Australia, lime green, orange and red.

Renova is a Portuguese brand, successful all over the world for their huge range of products.

The coloured toilet papers are safe and hygienic, and 100% biodegradable.

Priced from $9.95 for 3 rolls, you can buy it at or click here for online store link.

Gold Satin Chantilly For Edra At Space

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Edra is known globally by every celebrity, royal or super wealthy person. Edra does not come cheap.

Pictured above is the stunning piece from the Edra brand, called Chantilly.

It’s obvious why it’s called Chantilly. It’s smooth and flowing material runs down the frame, much like it’s creamy and edible counterpart. It’s centre rises to a leather peak.

Made of gold satin, it evokes many different feelings and emotions when you look at it, then touch it. It’s like sexy and seductive lingerie… It’s like a couture gown, ready to be taken off… It’s a very arousing piece of furniture that would become a centerpiece in any environment.

The shimmering gold satin, captures the lights, it sparkles at you like the sun reflecting off a calm sea.

I don’t have much more to say about it… Apart from the fact that I feel in love… Like Chantilly, you want to eat it up.

But you might want to ask for the price tag before you take a bite into it’s flowing skin. For only $54,145 this lounge could be all yours. Go on… you know you want it.

Get Your Edit Timber Humbug Chairs

Monday, April 12th, 2010

A gracious store located in the chic middle section of the Crown Street vicinity on Albion Street is a store called Edit.

Edit is a very unique store to Sydney, starting from the owner to it’s products. Owned by Sharyn Storrier Lyneham, who is the former editor of Vogue Entertaining & Travel and Vogue Living. When I walked into the store knowing this, I expected alot from it. When I walked into the store, all my expectations were met.

The first thing you’ll notice is the smell. A beautiful Marc Jacobs fragrance diffuser, it set the mood for me and what was to be expected around ever turn in the store. There is colour everywhere – more colour then I have ever seen in a store. It works and it works beautifully.

The store is full of furniture, sculptures, lamps and other amazing pieces which you don’t know where to start looking. Most of the furniture is pre-owned, then turned into a masterpiece after the team at Edit get their hands on it. Covering it in their own fabrics which they design and make, the outcome is a piece of high fashion furniture with old-world charm.

I’ll be featuring pieces from the store over the coming weeks, but I thought I would start with one of the most striking to me, the Timber Humbug chairs, retailing for $990 each.

An Easy Way To Retrieve Your Luggage

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

What a clever invention for those of you who have boring luggage that doesn’t stand out quite like my leather suitcases!

Luggage Retriever locates your luggage on the conveyor belt at the airport by remote control. There is a ‘base’ which is attached to a handle or strap on the suitcase/bag, and there is a remote which you carry. When the luggage starts to come out, you press the remote and the base beeps and flashes, so you can easily locate your bags from up to 20m away.

I’m thinking there are other uses for this too. Children and animals?

There’s Nothing Like A Beautifully Scented Space

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Each day when I leave work (usually with a headache), I drive home, drive into my garage, hop in the lift, get to my floor, where I instantly smell my apartment. It’s pleasant, soothing and I love opening my big front door to find my personal and private space being infused by my Magnolia fragrance diffuser by Scented Space.

It’s a calming, but bodied scent, which has abit of an old world cottage charm to it, but fits in nicely with my eclectic décor. I have found that finding a scent to match a home is a hard thing to do. You don’t want coastal scents in a quaint cottage in Balmain, or the scent of vanilla in a clinical and polished concrete apartment in Darlinghurst. Matching is important to complete a space.

Scented Space have a range of 20 scents to choose from and are exclusively sold at Myer for $34.95.

Muuto Egg Cups and Salt & Pepper Mills

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I’ve never really understood egg cups. They seem abit dramatic just to hold an egg. All that porcelain to hold an egg. What a stupid invention.

Till now.

I would totally buy these egg cups! Look how cool they are… You might think they are made for three eggs. Well I guess you could use it for that, but thats not what the three dents are for. One is for the egg, the other for salt and the other for the shell.

I think it’s kind of a cool little gift, or something cute to have for a nice breakfast on the terrace on Sundays with the paper and a glass of fresh orange juice.

So where do you get the salt from for the eggs? From the Muuto Salt & Pepper Mills. A great creation!

Egg cups available at Top3 by Design for $80 and Salt & Pepper Mills for $145 each.

Crochet The Lace Lightly Into A Sophia Bowl

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

These striking acrylic bowls really caught my eye!

It’s bold yet charming character, giving off a delicate crochet effect, with elements of fine lace and modern fun.

I love this bowl because it is funky, but has it’s story behind it which I think is really nice.

The Melbourne based designer Cindy-Lee Davis has created a range of bowls naming them after her Grandmother’s bridge playing friends. Sophia, Tia, Rosie and Lovey.

The come in white, red, black and clear and sell for $196 from Top3 by Design (Orders only) or Lightly.

What In The World Have Magisso Created?

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

You are probably looking at the photo wondering what the hell it is.

When I first picked it up, I played with it and tried to figure it out for myself too… Till I saw the cheesecake sitting next to it and figured it had something to do with that.

Eventually I figured it out – it’s a cake server!

It’s a stunning and extremely practical product, which is a change. I have attached the video below so you can see a demonstration of it. It’s a great idea, it cuts clean, it is easy to use and doesn’t ruin the cake. I love it!

A genius design by Magisso, who create simple and beautifully Scandinavian designed products.

Super Cool Scratchie Cards

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

When I buy cards for people, whether it be for their Birthday or a thankyou, I always look for a really nice unique one, that is either handmade, really rare or just unique.

Well I have found this super cool range of cards for me to buy from now on.

T-MOD have these wonderfully cool scratchie cards, which feature old world mechanical illustrations of hot air balloons, cuckcoo clocks, surreal landscapes of ballerinas and unicycles.

The range includes ‘thankyou’, ‘happy birthday’ and ‘thinking of you’ cards with various varieties available.

So the cool bit is there is a metal heart charm attached to it, which you pick off and use it to scratch off the silver and reveal the graphic or message beneath. The cards are made in Australia and available in galleries, boutique fashion, book and homeware stores.

Have a look at the website to see the handful of awesome stores that stock these clever cards!

Turn Your Dining Table Into A Palace

Friday, March 19th, 2010

I’m quite fortunate that I get to see some of the newest, greatest, coolest and most outrageous products from all over Australia, and the World. I see great products all the time, but I haven’t quite seen something this fantastic and unique before, when it comes to dining anyway.

This stacked dinnerware takes palatial dining to a new level – literally!! Check these out… There are 4 Palaces in the collection, each with 6 levels. Each Palace has 6 dinner plates, 6 side plates, 6 soup bowls and 6 small bowls. Each of the Palaces has. Even the roof turns into a serving bowl when flipped over! Sounds weird to you? Well it is! You need to see the pictures to believe it.

When I de-constructed the structures to make a table setting, I kept giggling. I don’t know why. This setting made me want to laugh because it’s so damn cool! Seletti + Selab in collaboration with Alessandro Zambelli created this fine product with one objective in mind – to make a dining setting that doesn’t look like a dining setting when not in use. I also think they achieved something else – it makes you smile.

If I had enough space in my apartment to fit it all and also have it on display, I would totally have bought it from Seletti in Leichthardt – 1300 730 244 –
