It’s coming up to that time of the year where Sydney’s social set put the day aside to relax in style and watch the polo.
The Woodford Reserve Mother’s Day Polo Classic, to be held at the Kurri Burri Polo Club on Sunday May 11, launched its charity event on Monday evening at Keystone’s hot spot, Rushcutters.
Welcomed with a Woodford premium craft bourbon Sour cocktail then Stella Artois and Veuve Clicquot to follow, with a tasting of the fancy new wine spritz, Bondi Rd by Yellow Tail.
The Mother’s Day event has fast become a landmark society polo event in NSW. What started out as a small family day in the Kurri Burri fields six years ago, has been building into the thousands. The picturesque estate runs along the Hawkesbury River with the Blue Mountains as a back drop, a perfect escape for city dwellers.
Mahalia Barnes is confirmed as the headlining act and is set to perform some soulful numbers on smooth fm’s entertainment stage; Kris Smith will add star power to the Woodford Reserve marquee as their ambassador, and special guest Blanche d’Alpuget, a long standing patron of their chosen charity Inala, will be attending with The Honourable Bob Hawke.
Inala, supporting individuals living with disabilities and special needs, has raised $173K thus far thanks to the support of the event over the years.
Crispy Pork Hoc was matched with Woodford Reserve’s Kentucky Apple, and guests’ taste buds were treated to oysters with Merlot vinaigrette, sardines on toast, tomato and goats curd salad, and for the sweet tooth – Pear and cherry strudel to complete the evening.

So I’m alive and out of Death Valley. It was the most breathtaking experience ever.
Best drive I’ve ever done. Ever. — at Death Valley Desert, California (USA).
Lunch in the town saloon. There are only 4 small buildings in this town and so far only 46 degrees. The food here is also deeeeeeeeeeeeelicious!
Yeeeehaaaaa! — at Badwater Saloon Death Valley.
DEATH VALLEY Day today… I’m hitting the valley where more people end up dead than alive. Joking!
But seriously, there is such a major warning before you enter with regards to heat, 50-55 degrees celcius expected today.
There’s also the animal risk, “Sir, do not walk or place your hands anywhere without checking first. Rattle snakes, scorpions, black widow spiders and coyotes are very present”.
I’M SO EXCITED!!!! My mum will be relieved once this day is over.
Just me and the open road through the desert for the next 3 hours.
Myself and I are becoming great friends. — at Mammoth Lakes, Ca.
This could quite possibly be the most beautiful vista I’ve ever seen in my life.
#yosemite#california #inspired — feeling overwhelmed at Yosemite National Park.
One of my greatest privileges in life is to drive.
I love to go off road and create crazy adventures.
I randomly went off my route because I wanted to climb this mountain range. I haven’t seen a single car for about an hour, driving towards Nevada border.
This is absolutely everything that driving, discovering, adventure and life is all about.
How gorgeous is this mountain B&B I’m staying at for the night in Oakhurst. I’m actually pinching myself that I’m here and made it!
I’m going bear hunting now at Bass Lake. This place is stunning! — at Hounds Tooth Inn.
I absolutely adore this B&B, I throughly recommend it. Book here: www.houndstoothinn.com
I apologise if this video offends, but it’s too much of a classic for me to not show. This was today at the Dore Alley festival in San Fran. I couldn’t help but film this guy haha.
I’ve always wanted to have a Kevin Bacon – Wild Things moment…
So off to the Everglades to see alligators in the wild on an Airboat!!
Like totally amazing!!!! #usa #florida #miami #alligator #airboat #everglades
Make sure when you’re in town, you come here – Everglades Alligator Farm
I went to a Palace, a bar on the beach at South Beach, Miami. It was an amazing place… then BAM! Out comes the crazy drag queen!
All i wanted to do was go to the M&M’s store and then BAM, I end up in the middle of crazy ass protests going on in Times Square NYC for the Zimmerman trial (as Toa just told me).
There’s about a million people, the city is at a complete standstill and bus loads of police are lining the streets. I hope it stays peaceful but people are getting rowdy.
Spending the day with the lovely fellow Aussie Clare! Having a blast! We went to the Brooklyn Flea Market then for cocktails in the Meatpacking District. Such a cool day!
One of the craziest situations ever!
I never talk to anyone sitting next to me when I am on a plane. On my flight from LA to NYC, I sat next to a guy whom I didn’t say a single word to the whole way. Nor did he to me.
After two days in NYC, I bump into him and he recognised me, I had no idea who he was. We hit it off and the rest was history…
I’ve made a great new mate including his best friend who he was traveling with!
So for 5.5 hours we didn’t talk on a flight and it took a random meeting in a city of millions to become friends!
It’s really hard to comprehend what happened here.
The memorial pool with the new trade center behind it. — at World Trade Center Site.
As the sun sets in the city of lights, these are the days of our lives. — at Pier 40 Hudson River Park.
A little something has fallen from the sky… — at SoHo.
