Chiva-Som At ISIKA – Crown Metropol Experience. Bliss.
May 16th, 2011

I recently had one of the most luxurious experiences, where I was pampered and traveled down a path of culinary perfection.
It was a taste of Chiva-Som Luxury Health Resort at ISIKA Day Spa at the Crown Metropol, Melbourne. Chiva-Som joined ISIKA only for a limited time, so that a piece of the resort could be experienced here in Australia.
Chiva-Som Resort brought their skills and their therapists from Thailand to Melbourne to treat and spoil visitors of the ISIKA Day Spa, with a collection of treatments – from heavenly massages to more intense physiotherapy. Although it’s not their entire range of treatments, it gave an insight into the skill these masters have.

But not only did they bring their therapists to indulge the guests, they brought the Chiva-Som Executive Chef, Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat – who created a mind blowing meal, not only unique and carefully designed, but extremely healthy by eliminating sugar, salt and oil.
So I think I should go back and tell you about my experience, right from the beginning.
I arrived at the Crown Metropol in Melbourne and greeted by the lovely concierge, directing me to the reception. “Mr. Erdedi, welcome to Crown Metropol, you are staying in the Health Retreat suite on level 26…”. It sounded very impressive. I gathered my luggage and made my way to the lift to go to the private section on level 26, which is not accessible to people staying in the normal rooms at the Metropol. Already, I was feeling a sense of exclusivity, but also seclusion.

I opened the door to my room and infront of me was a delicate room, with beautiful fixtures, neutrally toned calming colour scheme and floor to ceiling glass, with views over Melbourne CBD. I was in heaven. But in actual fact – heaven had not even begun.
I had time to drop my luggage, have a cup of herbal tea and get ready to go upstairs to level 27 for my treatments at ISIKA, by the Chiva-Som therapists.

Waiting in the retreat lounge, with a cup of aromatic herbal tea, it slowed down the heart rate, calmed my nerves and helped me tune out a little, so I could take in every little bit of my first treatment – a Deep Tissue Massage. My very kind Chiva-Som therapist guided me through to the treatment room, which smelt pleasant, lighting was dim and sounds of the forest in the background. I had stepped into my boudoir for the next couple of hours.

I got comfortable in privacy and comfort, and got ready to relax and be taken on a journey of experience, tradition and health rejuvenation. Using oils, my deep tissue massage began. And this is when I slowly drifted away… After some time, I woke up and turned over. It was time to do it all again, but on my front side. And again… I drifted away.
One hour later, I felt light. Refreshed. Somehow all of my tension diminished and I felt on top of the world.
The experience wasn’t over just yet.
Next up, another gracious therapist came into the room to give me my Chiva-Som Haven Body Polish. No Kenco chamois or sponges to be found. This is luxury. Chiva-Som body scrub was applied limb by limb and rubbed into my skin. Removing the impurities from my entire body. Smoothing the skin and stimulating cell growth. After a wash in my private shower, I was laying down again, having my body moisturised and nourished.
I can’t remember the last time my body felt immaculate.

After I had a nap, I went for a swim in the heated indoor infinity lap pool on level 27, a quick chill in the vitality pool and then 15 minutes in the steam room – all before I got ready for my superb Chiva-Som dinner.
Welcomed to the indulgent level 28 restaurant, ironically named ‘28′, a detox cocktail was handed to me and I was taken to my seat which the place setting was gleaming.
If there’s one thing the Crown Metropol has perfected, it’s quality and service.
Chiva-Som Executive Chef, Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat prepared a meal beyond culinary heights.

Courses served up from the Chiva-Som menu included Thai specialties such as seared scallop, quinoa tabbouleh, mushroom confit and beetroot vinaigrette, black cod baked in mustard with lentil dhal, tamarind and mango chutney. For dessert, a poached pear which was absolutely beautiful and lightly sweetened – without any sugar. Every one of Paisarn’s dishes he has created for the mind, body and soul. So no salt, oils or sugar is used in any of his dishes. He uses natural and healthy ingredients to use instead.

After some exceptional wines, great conversation and a short stroll to my suite, I retired for the night.
Waking up the next morning was hard. It was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I honestly slept in the same position all night, without one single bit of back pain. I normally wake up in the morning stiff and with my joints cracking, but these beds at the Crown Metropol are simply amazing!
It was back up to the restaurant for breakfast. Now I don’t quite know how to describe it. Maybe in three words? VARIETY. INCREDIBLE. ORGANIC? Or maybe FRESH. CHOICE. UNFORGETTABLE? I can’t choose the words to describe the buffet breakfast at the Metropol, but one thing I know is that it’s by far the best one I have ever had in Australia. I’ve been to many resorts nationally, B&B’s, hotels, Day Spa’s, retreats and lodges, but none of them can compare to that of the one at the Crown Metropol. MAGNIFICENT.

So you are probably wondering what this article is about? Is it about Chiva-Som? ISIKA Day Spa? Or is it about the Crown Metropol? Well let me wrap this up for you…
Chiva-Som is no longer available here in Australia for you to try, BUT the REAL Chiva-Som is only a short flight away in Thailand, where the experience will surpass anything you could every expect and experience in your life. There is definately a reason why the likes of Elle McPherson, Dannii Minogue, Megan Gale, Kylie Minogue and Madonna visit this place annually.

ISIKA Day Spa is one of the the most luxurious day spa’s in the country, with an extensive menu to make your choice tough and therapists who know exactly what they are doing and how to look after you and your body.

Crown Metropol is clearly the leading hotel in Melbourne, with incredible choice for the palate, exceptionally well designed with the guests senses as a priority and service which cannot be matched.

These are the 3 reasons why I wrote this article – and these are the 3 reasons why I would do it all over again – no matter how much it costs.

Peter Everett thanks viewers of Ready Steady Cook for Logie nomination
April 27th, 2011
Check out the lovely message Peter Everett from Ready Steady Cook has made for all of his loyal fans and voters of the show for the 2011 Logies.
The show has been nominated for it’s 3rd Logie, but unfortunately Peter is no longer the host of the show. Late last year, Channel 10 dropped Peter without any warning. But being the gracious person he is, he still has all the love and appreciation in the world for the show, and all the people around Australia (and the World) who love him!
If you ask me, Peter will always be the face of Ready Steady Cook – no other host will be able to top him!

My Top 5 Favourite Songs Of ALL TIME. Song 1…
April 6th, 2011
My number 1 favourite song of all time is shared by many, but unknown by many more.
Heartfelt, almost to the point of depressing. It’s happiness. It’s just divine.
Glen Hansard is the voice of the band, and the brains of the words. He is also the incredible actor who simply played himself in the love story called Once, where the song first came to fruition singing alongside Markéta Irglová.
My number 1 favourite song of all time is Falling Slowly by The Frames.
I also have all of their albums which are phenomenal – I suggest getting The Cost. This album has Falling Slowly and is genius.
I’ve also added the version Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová sang together and toured the world with.

My Top 5 Favourite Songs Of ALL TIME. Song 2…
March 30th, 2011
My 2nd favourite song of all time comes from an Adelaide born Australian. She is beautiful and very talented, has achieved great international success and has made me cry. It could only be the unmistakeable crisp and heart stopping voice of Sia with the song Breathe Me.
Story goes… When Sia first recorded the song, she left the studio and just broke down in tears. As she was, in a raw and emotional state, she walked back into the studio and re-recorded it in her state and that is why you hear her voice crackling and her deep breaths and tears. Now that’s an artist.

FILM REVIEW: Yves Saint Laurent: Pierre Bergé, L’Amour Fou
March 27th, 2011

One of the most glorious movies I’ve seen in quite a while. Yves Saint Laurent: Pierre Bergé, L’Amour Fou. A beautiful film about the lives of these two men who spent a lifetime working, living and loving together.
I watched it in a private screening last week at the Chauvel Cinema in Paddington as part of the French Film Festival in Sydney, but it is traveling around the country until the 10th of April, last day in Sydney is Sunday the 27th of March.
Anyway, back to the movie. It’s absolutely beautiful. I felt quite emotional throughout much of the film. It really was an emotional rollercoaster for me – some points I was happy, then I’d be sad, then happy, then really sad, a little sad, then happy.
What got me was the raw and honest love between Yves and Pierre, that two people could love eachother so much through the life they both led, and stuck it out through thick and thin, all the way to Yves death on the 1st of June 2008.
The documentary takes you on a journey through the highs and lows (but mainly highs) of the fashion empire which Yves created with Pierre, showcasing some of the most fabulous designs, not to mention the homes, artworks and sculptures the couple bought throughout their successful careers – all the way back to when Yves was Christian Dior’s assistant.
It’s the instrumental that begins the film, and sets the mood. This carries on throughout the film, adding to the desperation behind the kind, yet shy eyes of YSL. In interviews throughout the film, you see he finds it hard to make eye contact with people, and with the camera. He is almost permanently nervous.
It begins at the funeral of YSL in June 2008, and ends with the Christie’s auction which saw most of the couples art, furniture and sculptures sold for ten of millions of dollars each, including works from Mondrian, Matisse and Picasso. It was the most valuable private collection in history, raising $477 million dollars which partially went to the Yves Saint Laurent Foundation, which provides scientific research in fighting AIDS.
This is a MUST SEE film for any fashion lover, which is told from the heart and through the mouth of Pierre Bergé himself. A true French film, with passion and raw emotion which is captured in a way, that only French films can.
I left that cinema thinking about the film. That night I thought about it. The next day, thinking about it… and the day after that.

Where Would I Rather Be? Lapping Up The Luxury At Laucala Island
March 25th, 2011

Where would I rather be? I’d rather be sipping away on a cocktail at possibly one of the most breathtaking islands I have ever seen, staying at quite possibly the most amazing properties I have ever seen! This is the unbelievable Laucala Island.
But with the Easter long weekend stretching over five days this year, why not treat yourself, and the family to an escape at the ultra private Laucala Island in the South Pacific. This luxurious property boasts an impressive range of amenities, which together deliver a decadent holiday experience that the whole family can enjoy.
Laucala offers 25 well-appointed residences in specially selected locations around the island. Couples will appreciate the space and privacy of the one bedroom residence, Laucala also offers two and three bedroom configurations for families. The luxurious residences offer flat screen TVs, Bose home entertainment systems, iPods and docking stations, yoga decks, golf buggies and private swimming pools. If you really can’t leave your poochie home alone, you can bring them along as the island is biosecure.
An exciting range of leisure activities are available on the island, leaving you with the option of doing as much or as little as you wish. Activities include rainforest hikes, mountain biking, cooking classes, farm and island tours, horseback riding and kayaking. Passionate golfers can also enjoy an undisturbed round of golf over the private course while the Laucala Spa offers a tempting menu of spa journeys for those seeking soothing pampering. For the young ones, Laucala’s Kids Club offers wood carving, board games and water sports. I say dump the kids and RELAX.
Are you a diver? If so, divers are invited to explore the pristine underwater world surrounding the island with private dive sessions and guided snorkeling trips. The clear waters are also ideal for coastal fishing and anglers. The resort has an amazing collection of sailing vessels, including a Riviera Open Flybridge, a Dragon Class sailing boat and a Classic Pilothouse Ketch for you to take advantage of.
If that isn’t enough for you, Laucala is home to five spectacular restaurants and bars, each showcasing the island’s locally grown produce which is organic and toxin free. The signature Plantation House Restaurant led by Michelin star executive chef Michele Mingozzi offers an unforgettable dining experience that rivals the world’s top restaurants. You can also choose to dine at the alfresco Seagrass Restaurant which overlooks the island or chill out with a cocktail in the Rock Lounge. I love the sound of that!

Venuti La Vita – Maria Venuti 70th Birthday Party & 50 Years In Entertainment
March 22nd, 2011

Maria Venuti celebrated her BIG 70th birthday on the 13th of March in opulence and elegance – with a hint of cheekiness!
The 450 guests arrived at Doltone House, Pyrmont for Venuti La Vita with Variety, the Childrens Charity on an evening of perfect weather and stunning city backdrop. With a red theme for the party, the guests were greeted with the Maria Venuti signature Campari red cocktails with either blood orange or POM Wonderful Juice, Yellowglen Sparkling, De Bortolli wines and canapés to enjoy before the life of the party arrived.

But how on earth does a person with 50 years of entertainment experience and an exuberant personality arrive with a grand entrance? In a Carabinieri (Italian Police Car) of course! Sirens blazing, as the car came speeding down the wharf. The guests in amazement and hysterics as the larger then life Maria Venuti is escorted from the car by Dancing With The Stars dancer, Carmelo Pizzino.

Covered head to toe in red sequins, feathers and diamantes, Carmelo and his Dancing With The Stars friends liven up the mood while dancing and posing around Maria, as she waves to the guests, smiles for photos and sprawls herself over the Carabinieri.
“Welcome to my boudoir” Maria said to the guests, inviting them inside the absolutely breathtaking red and black room, suitable for a King and Queen, complete with chandeliers, candelabras and a red baby grand piano on stage. With table settings fit for royal guests, chocolate gift boxes from Dolci D’oro and platters of Adriano Zumbo macaroons are waiting to be enjoyed.

To the back corner of the room, stylist and emcee for the night Glenn T created a phenomenal display of Maria’s dresses, right back from the start of her career – it was like stepping into the museum of a drag queen! Feathers, sequins and diamantes splashed around all over the place. Outrageous outfits and colour, colour, colour!

With some of Australia’s biggest names in entertainment, politics and business – the stars came out to play and celebrate a fabulous 50 years of entertainment and 70 years of life with Maria. Some of the guests included Alan Jones AO, Michael Caton, Barry Crocker, Vince Sorrenti, Trevor Ashley, John Foreman, Peter Everett and Susie Elelman just to name a few.

Glenn T, the emcee for the night conducted himself in nothing but a 10 out of 10 manner, with class, humour and nothing but love and admiration for Maria.
Maria started off the evening, in a fabulous gold number with “Let’s Get My Party Started” and the jazz classic, “Almost Like Being In Love”… To finish off with an emotional standing ovation.

To continue on with the night entertainment was the wonderful John Paul Young singing his world famous 1978 track “Love Is In The Air”. Getting the room intimate and in the mood, all of the guests young and old got into it – every person in the room had a smile from ear to ear.
Three chefs chosen from three of Maria’s favourite Italian restaurants, each course was specifically designed for the 450 guests. To start off the Italian culinary feast, the gorgeous entrée is served. Luca Ciano, executive chef of Casa Barilla whips up Orecchiette pasta with goat ragu, chestnuts and baked ricotta. Delicious! Both Michael Yabsley and Alan Jones were sitting beside me and raved on about how delicious it was!
Alan Jones AO made an outstanding and heartfelt contribution to the evening, speaking beautifully about Maria’s life, about the book she recently launched and about the wonderful mark she has embedded in the entertainment industry and how Maria is a true Australian icon. And that she most certainly is.

Lucio Galletto of Lucio’s prepares the main, fish with cuttlefish and silverbeet. As this is being served, Carmelo and Alana from Dancing With The Stars dance for everybody.
The entertainment just doesn’t stop. It’s now time for Barry Crocker to get up and do his thing. Sounding tremendous, he brought Maria up on stage to sing with him – both creating a very special moment for all.

Vince Sorrenti. I am laughing as I write this. This man is a master at making people laugh. He had the room in stitches and there were tears running down faces from being in hysterics. He is a very funny man, with alot to say and had every person in that room completely in the moment with him – including Maria laughing away at our table.

The sole purpose for Maria’s birthday is to raise money for the charity she has long been an ambassador for – Variety. Up came Variety Vice President Penny Docherty along with Glen Wheeler to do the auction and raffle which guests spent many dollars on buying tickets for and bidding. Thousands of dollars were raised, with several luxury packages including a trip to New Zealand and other goods such as a face lift from All Saints Cosmedical, Catherine Manuell designer luggage (won by John Foreman), 14 vouchers of Sydney’s best Italian restaurants, a Carla Zampatti dress, a John Serafino suit, Master/Slave shoes tickets to the Opera and Hairspray, products from Troy Thompson hairdressing, pearls from Nader Jewellers, a Rachel Gilbert dress, Fashion Identity company package, Chrissy L jewels, a couple of nights at The Cullen Hotel, Top3 by Design, Social Royalty, NathanPaul Swimwear (won by Vince Sorentti), V Club Gym membership a luxury Hunter Valley package plus much much more!

There is even an extra auction thrown in there by Glen – the chance to see Michael Caton from Packed to the Rafters sing to all 450 guests! Raising $700 for Variety, Michael sang “Volare”, an Italian love song. (Stay tuned for the footage!)
Dessert is served. Darren Simpson of La Scala on Jersey serves guests his divine pannacotta with whole figs stewed in Vin Santo. Perfect in taste and perfect in texture – I ate both my dessert, and Alan Jones’.
Everybody knows the event is coming to an end. But there is still a vital part missing. The cake.

Now this isn’t just any cake. This is a birthday cake so fabulous, so over the top, so Maria Venuti it’s not funny! Designed by Antony Bullimore from Planet Cake in Balmain, this magnificent 3 tier cake, each tier a different animal print, covered in diamantes, with stars and a diamante encrusted microphone protruding through the top of the cake! But wait, there has to be a candle right? Seventy candles to be exact! Maria blows out her candles and cuts the cake, with her astonishing daughter Bianca beside her, wearing an jaw-dropping Patrîcia Nascimento gown.

As cake is prepared for the guests (as if the dessert wasn’t enough!), there is yet another surprise in-store. Trevor Ashley who stars as Edna in musical ‘Hairspray‘ spent the remainder of the evening trying to upstage Maria, coming on in drag as Maria, with one of the most hilarious routines I’ve ever seen. This time, every single guest was laughing uncontrollably, with tears streaming down their faces.

It’s clear that Trevor Ashley has a close relationship with Maria as he was able to do mannerisms, voice pitches and other little Maria-isms perfectly. This was most certainly the highlight of the event, I’ve never laughed so much!
It has come to an end – a night that I had hoped would go on for much longer, but was over with in what seemed 30 minutes. A truly successful evening for both Maria and Variety. Glenn T gave Maria a gorgeous bunch of flowers from Merci Bouquet which were wrapped in leopard print. Maria said her thankyou’s and sang one final time with a medley of her favourite tunes, dedicating them to everyone that was there to share her special night.

The big band played a few songs to dance to, by this time people started to leave with their substantial gift bags in tow – containing pasta, pasta sauce and Grissinni from Barilla, Coast To Coast magazines, a bottle of Lindemans Pink Chardonnay, Cocolo Chocolates, Pukka Tea, vouchers for ParaMedical Skin Clinic, Master/Slave, Survivor Fitness and to top it off, a cute thankyou card from Maria with a cartoon of herself by Brett Willis Cartoons.

A magical night, a rollercoaster of emotions and a mutual love for a very special lady. I have no doubt Maria Venuti will never forget her night, as it was made for her and all about her.

Happy milestones Maria. Love Adrian xox

Maria Venuti Book Launch: A Whole Load Of Front
March 10th, 2011

It was the party to be at, and to be seen at. Maria Venuti’s book launch for A Whole Load Of Front.

Also falling on her actual birthday, March the 7th saw many young and old celebrities, politicians and wealthy socialites fill the famous corporate fat cat hang out, Machiavelli on Clarence Street in Sydney.

It was truly a celebration of the fabulous, vivacious and exuberant life of Maria Venuti – which is now all documented in an entertaining rollercoaster of emotion, struggle, fame and secrets which are out on the table for all to read.

Draped in leopard skin ruffles and with her best assets to the fore, Maria’s book took centre stage next to a massive cake designed exclusively for Maria by Planet Cake. ‘It’s a bushfire darling’ said Maria as she blew out the 70 candles.

The honorary Alan Jones began the proceedings, to an audience including the contender for NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell, Shadow Treasurer Joe Hockey, Marie Ficarra, Max Markson, Henri Szeps, Peter Everett, Glenn A Baker, the delightful actress Lorrae Desmond, gorgeous Melissa Hoyer and Mary Lopez.

Alan Jones talked up Maria’s humble beginnings as an Italian living in Australia before revealing the moment that changed Maria’s life forever. Stood up by her date and standing on a Kings Cross sidewalk, Maria was invited by the legendary Ron Roman to one of his smoky jazz lounges. One coffee later and Maria had landed the singing role she was destined for.

Maria laughed, cried and shrieked with delight as Alan broke into song, “I just met a girl called Maria!”

But there was a serious tone to the evening, as Alan goes onto say, “For years, Maria has entertained the world, bringing happiness to everyone. Tonight those same people, from the highest level of politics like Barry O’Farrell and Joe Hockey and entertainment, made it their business to salute Maria. It is rewarding for Maria but gratifying for everyone as they had a chance to pay a long overdue tribute to an Australian icon.”

Stay tuned for a review and excerpts from the book – I promise this will be one you’ll be hanging on for!

Born This Way Video By Lady Gaga
March 2nd, 2011
“This is the manifesto of Mother monster”.
What?
Is this woman actually insane?
Answer: YES. And we love her for it.
Lady Gaga has actually turned insane and the World can’t get enough of her. With the release of her new video clip for the super successful new song Born This Way, all it’s done is make people think she is actually crazier then we already thought.
The video is simply indescribable. It’s completely AWESOME. But awesome in a creative, stylised and designer way – not the actual meaning behind the weird things that take place in the video… Like pulling a machine gun out of her woohoo. What’s with that?!
Now, being a huge Lady Gage fan, I have to say, the sexualisation within the clip baffles me. But it’s not just Lady Gaga. It’s many artists at the moment – Rihanna with S&M, Akon with I Just had Sex and Wynter Gordon’s Dirty Talk. Am I just being too old and conservative?
That aside, Gaga knows how to move, she knows how to sing, she has this intrinsic creativity beyond many people’s imagination – she leaves us with our jaws dropping.
All I can say is WATCH THIS CLIP! IT IS CRAZY!
To finish off – I must make particular note of the last few seconds of the video… See the image below and tell me who you think of immediately?

Watch the clip above, feel free to comment and let me know what you think about my comments on the current “trend” of heavy sexual references in today’s music – am I the only one thinking this?

“Where the media and sources go to connect” – The SourceBottle
February 7th, 2011

I’ve had the very challenging, yet extremely exciting task of looking after sponsorships and donations for an elaborate Charity event being hosted in March, at Doltone House.
Not so long ago, I came across an amazing website called The SourceBottle, a website that assists publicists, journalists, event organisers, writers, editors and bloggers in a multitude of ways.
I have been using it to source sponsors and donations for the Charity, which has been nothing more then an absolute success for me. The website is easy to use, it’s clear, it’s clean and it’s popular within the industry – so it’s pretty much a Bible for some.
If you are any of the people I have mentioned above and don’t already know about the site, I suggest you check it out quick smart!
Check out www.thesourcebottle.com – Where the media and sources go to connect.

LotForty Launches The Sangria Club!
January 31st, 2011

On the 25th January, Sydney’s socialites including Shelly Horton, gorgeous Bianca Venuti, James Duffell, Chloe Duffell (Sabatini), Daniel Sofo (Firefly), amazing Elle Halliwell (The Insider), Kellee Cruse (Santos Wish) and many more, gathered in Darlinghurst to celebrate the launch of Lotforty Tapas Restaurant’s “Sangria Club”, sponsored by Square One Organic Vodka & Jed Wines.

“Sangria Club” allows locals to enjoy jugs of sangria for $10 or two tapas plates and a jug of sangria for $30 every Wednesday & Thursday from 5pm-11pm. Ladies and gentlemen, adorned with Spanish fans, mingled over icy jugs of red wine sangria and drooled over the refreshing white wine sangria while the live Spanish guitarist’s smooth tunes surrounded the courtyard, creating a truly festive Spanish vibe .

Two lucky girls gave the piñatas (a chilli and guitar piñata) a good beating, only to be showered with prizes such as a voucher for Lotforty’s “Sangria Club” and fabulous Valentine’s Day bracelets from Santos Wish. The night was a success, and a great way to kick off the Australia Day Eve celebrations.

The Fierce New Lexus IS350 – Power That’ll Move You.
January 26th, 2011

Test driven and written by Adrian Erdedi for www.AdrianErdedi.com
A Sydney Lexus dealership was kind enough to lend me a Lexus IS350 Sports Luxury for a whole week. The same car, same shape, same interior… the difference? Its got a new and improved big powerful engine.
Never being a fan of Lexus (and you’d know that from my first car review which was a Lexus), this time I’ve been convinced… And all it took was time. Like a mother with an ugly child, you eventually grow to love it. I grew to love it. My love for it grew very quickly.
They [Lexus] said, “in a week, you should be able to get a proper feeling for the car, and see how good it actually is. Trust us, you’ll become a Lexus convert”.
So what did I think?
Outside
Razor sharp and agile looks. It’s a fierce looking beast, ready to unleash. With big shiny steel rims and brilliant pearlescent exterior paint, it is just inviting me in, with doors wide open.
This car is all about the detail, nothing has passed the eyes of Lexus, there isn’t one piece of metal, plastic or glass that is unattractive.
From the side mirrors to the boot lid… The exterior of this car is just beautiful even though the shape is 5 years old. The side mirrors have the night lights to illuminate the road below, the new addition of the day time HID driving lights, the door frames, boot lid, bonnet lid and basically anything that opens or closes is built nicely and is polished.
It’s beastly. It’s flared body panels almost make the car seem like it’s breathing subtly, like a wild beast watching it’s prey.
Interior
Grabbing the door handle with the keyless entry fob in my pocket, the car unlocks opening up to an extremely refined interior.
Sumptuous leather appointed electrically controlled heated and ventilated seats with contoured comfort welcome you home. They are like a La-Z-Boy armchair. The centre console is raised between the two front passengers, giving the feeling of a wide luxury saloon. Lots of storage areas, easy to reach everything, buttons are big and easy to read, everything has been designed for the driver.
The brains of the car is in the dashboard, with the entertainment/comfort/navigation system. Control everything from music, climate, satellite navigation, Bluetooth, mobile phone and vehicle customization settings.
The back seat is tight, but good enough for kids or small adults. Without legs. Or arms.
So the whole reason I have reviewed the car is for the engine. What did I think about it?
Engine & Drive
Fierce. Absolutely fierce. As all of their TVC’s suggest, it’s power that’ll move you. A 3.5 litre, V6 engine with 233kws of power, this thing has grunt. I’ve driven the IS250 and this new and improved engine absolutely creams the IS250! The IS350 is the most powerful in the range.
The great thing about this car is that it’s whisper quiet. But the second you push your foot to the floor and the revs get up, this car sounds like a hungry beast. It sticks to the road like glue, has awesome handling – where you steer, it goes. At high speeds, jolting the wheel left and right, the car does sway a little and finds it a little bit tough finding it’s bearings. But chance of you having to do that in a dangerous situation are minimal, so you’re pretty right.
Braking is absolutely superb. Even at high speeds, the car stops in an instant, without my latte, laptop and drycleaning flying around the cabin (too much).
Likes: I pretty much love everything about this car. Style, elegance, power, performance, colour, layout, ease, feel. The features of this car are quite endless – I just love how many cool features there are, and they are all so easy to use.
Dislikes: Tight backseat, boot space is ample, but not as spacious as I would have expected for a car of it’s size. The thing I dislike most is definately the park brake – it’s the push down pedal next to the brake on the far left of the foot well. It is so stupid and uncomfortable to use – the amount of times I also forgot to use it.
Would I buy it? Absolutely. I would buy one in a heartbeat. But I’m not in my 40’s and not a Real Estate agent.
Price: $89,000 drive away for the IS350 Sports Luxury, which is the top of the range.
Final Say: I really love this car. I really, really love this car. It is the perfect package. All you need to do is get over the fact it’s Japanese and owned by Toyota, and the fact it’s $89,000 drive away and you will be blessed with many years of smooth, economical and pleasurable driving. There’s something satisfying about driving a Lexus.

Who Got Crowned Mr Bondi For 2011?
January 21st, 2011

Two weekends of Bondi hospitality, beach and sun was enough to crown the first Mr Bondi.
Week one saw nearly 30 Mr Bondi hopefuls fight head to head in games, talent quest and quizes tp test the male emotions, all while trying to please the lovely judging panel, Elle Halliwell, Corby Sue, Donny Galella, Grant Dwyer, Julie Lawless and Nat Ayres at Bondi Social.

The somewhat crazy, eclectic group of guys made the audience laugh, made their mouth drop and made them scrunch up their faces in embarrassment for the guys who were simply just having fun.

Twelve men were short listed and asked to attend Bondi FM the following Saturday to go under more examining by the judges, and announce the winner.

plenty of alcohol, on air interviews and speed dating were part of the nights shenanigans, which went well into the night. Familiar faces were in the top 12, like seventy year old social photographer Bill Rankin, Mike Goldman and Russ Ayres, owner of Bondi FM.

But it was the quintessential man who took the tiara, the man with the great smile, fun personality, good sense of humor and the all round ‘Bondi’ guy – Anthony Marich. Long blonde hair, perfect tan and perfect white teeth, Anthony just scraped past Mike and Russ to take the title.

With a plethora of gifts, including a 12 month modeling contract and $2000 garage makeover, Anthony was chuffed with his new title, Bondi fame and every women in the room throwing themselves at him.

Music Review: Jessica Mauboy Accentuates Her Fabulosity
January 20th, 2011

Jessica Mauboy never seems to put a foot wrong. She is sexy, she has matured, she has an awesome voice and she is über cool.
Jessica Mauboy is cool. She has come a long way from being barefoot with flies on her face on Australian Idol. And good on her!
Her latest album Get ‘Em Girls is the product of fine and versatile vocals, superb producing and awesome management. She is the ultimate salable Australian to the world, and I hope to God she conquers the tough American market, which after one listen of the new album, you think you are listening to some of Americas best talents like Fergie, Rihanna, Lil’ Kim or Kelly Rowland.
With a heap of great collaborations featuring artists like Snoop Dogg and Jay Sean, Jess doesn’t rely on them and their star power to sell her records – she could do it all on her own.
The first of fifteen songs to burst through your speakers (and you’re going to need good ones!) shares the album title, Get ‘Em Girls. It is also the first song Jessica released from the album and superbly produced by Mr. Bangladesh. Big bass, Jimmy Choo’s, great producing, Snoop Dogg and Maseratti’s make the song sexy, dancey and a hell of a lot of fun to move to!
Handle It is the next track, a fun and perky track with cute rhythm reminds me a little of Mya’s Case of the Ex, just faster.
One of my favorite track is Accelerate That, for me it’s a standout track. Fast, furious, frantic… Jessica accentuates her “fabulosity”. For some reason, when I drive listening to this song… I “speed up”, it makes me want to drive fast. In her words, “you need to step on the gas!”
Scariest Part, the first track that slows down the pace a little, but turns the high notes up to maximum. A great song, with plenty of feeling and range.
Saturday Night. At first it took me a while to like it, but now I love it. It’s a young, free and fresh song, it almost makes you feel a little liberated. A fine collaboration of lyrics and music with Ludacris.
An international flavor from the first second, Foreign is definately showcasing Jess’ versatility. This song requires great speakers, it’s brutally bassy, busy but freaking amazing! I love this one, it makes me want to crump, do the caterpillar, the robot and then spin on my head Run DMC styles!
Can Anybody Tell Me, a cute girly song, which is very Jordin Sparks, Tattoo. It’s a sweet song, with no particular meaning, it just sounds good. Like many of the tracks on this album.
Fight For You, which has a mix of Cheryl Cole and Pussycat Dolls is a great little tune, but not as great at the song Maze which follows. A boppy girly song, but it’s just so unforgettable – I promise it will be one of the songs that will stick in your head all day! It’s the epitome of ‘pop’, a song too cute to skip.
No album can be complete without an emotional, yet strong song. Here For Me is that song. To finish off the album, Forget Your Name, an up-beat track with fast and snappy lyrics, great vocals and one to definately dance along to. This track has a real Deborah Cox sound and feel to it. Love it.
This is one mega AWESOME album. I love it. I love it. I LOVE it.
My only complaint though… Well two actually. Firstly, when I heard Jess Mauboy was about to release her new album, I was excited. But when I heard the album name Get ‘Em Girls, I was disappointed and thought it was going to be some silly 10 year old girls album. Boy was I wrong. I guess as the saying goes, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Speaking of cover, that’s the other thing that irks me. The cover doesn’t match the content, it should be a sleek, sexy and metallic cover – much like TLC did with the single No Scrubs and album Fanmail.
Second, her video clips also don’t match her music. Well for the first two releases anyway. They lack pretty much everything. Her songs are about fabulousness – great shoes, fast cars, great friends, nights out, spending lots of cash and living the good life. This could be reflected in her videos – not cheaply made, poorly lit sets with poor direction. I don’t blame her though, she is still awesome!
I give this album a very special 9 out of 10. It’s brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Brooke Fraser’s SUPERB New Video Clip For “Betty”
December 22nd, 2010
If you read my site often, you’d know I’m a big fan of Brooke Fraser. But the new video clip “Betty” has got me in love with her even more.
It’s perfectly styled, it’s perfectly set, perfectly filmed. Brooke is funny, sarcastic and acting the way we would if we were singing to our favourite songs in the car, thinking we were the star. She is fabulous, I can’t say much more.
Check out the review on her current album Flags HERE.

The top 10 list can’t excite all the senses without the inclusion of sound. So the Putumayo World Music compilations are definately an excellent gift for the person you don’t know what to buy.
Even the Aussiest of Aussies can still have an appreciation for world music. If you’re not sure which one to choose, you can’t go wrong with the sweet sounds of Paris, or España – my 2 favourites.

Jennifer Lopez Reveals New Album Cover – Release Early 2011
December 11th, 2010
In my opinion, Jennifer Lopez is one of the most beautiful women in the world. She is poised, gracious and refined.
It’s been a long time since she released an album and the exciting thing is her new album comes out early next year!
Yesterday, she revealed her new album cover on Barbara Walters, during an interview. She was featured as one of the 10 Most Fascinating People. The album is call Love.
She said, “Love came from my questions about love and life. And I think the babies had a lot to do with that. When the babies were born and I felt that love, that unconditional love, I thought, ‘that’s what its supposed to be.”
Looking absolutely stunning on the cover of her album, I have a feeling this is going to be a good one! I’m very excited she has finally got over looking after the twins and get herself back out into the public eye, doing what she does best – being fabulous.
