HAPPY 4th of JULY!!!!

I’m on top of the world!!!
Well, 2695m up looking over the Palm Springs Valley in 45 degree celcius heat. This place is absolutely breathtaking. — at Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.
I know it’s kinda woggy, but I adore the paint job on this Range Rover. #onlyinamerica #thiscouldbedubai #toomuchycashy
What a Mother’s Day I had… Without my mother. But my adorable mother for the day was great friend Dr Nikki Goldstein.
The Jeep Kurri Burri Polo Classic was the perfect match for mums from all walks of life. Sipping on Veuve Clicquot and taking in the fresh air and sunshine, friends and families enjoyed the charming country hospitality, gourmet food and live entertainment throughout the day.
The fifth annual charity event has become the premier family sport and lifestyle event in NSW, fermenting its reputation as a relaxed day for socials and locals to enjoy a competitive match of polo. But it’s not just for the adults; there were heaps of kids being kept entertained with the Reading Jets kids zone that included face painting, pony rides, Jack Russell Racing and the Kids’ Dash across the field. Apparently I wasn’t allowed to enter the dash. Thanks Nikki!
Host of The Voice Darren McMullen, joined in the frivolity and shared a classic picnic with his parents. Darren was reunited with former The Voice contestant, Prinnie Stevens, who later in the day performed her latest hit, Don’t Wake Me Up, calling on the kids to dance live on stage with her which was very cute!
Pimms, Punch or Peroni? The Polo Bar & Lawn, was a vibrant addition with everybody enjoying the country chic vibe as polo players mingled with guests. Daimon Downey set the tunes with a selection of tracks to keep guests including, Pip Edwards and Kristy-Lee Allan loving life and dancing on the side lines.
The Jeep marquee was full of fabulous people, who shared the day with their children. Celebrity chef Ben O’Donoghue cooked up a storm on the Jeep Grill for us. The food was absolutely delicious! Some of the fab people included Jesinta Campbell, Deborah Knight, Holy Bristly, Ed Phillips, Cameron Williams, David Campbell, David Whitehill, Sam Armytage, the adorable Benji and Zoe Marshall, plus MKR’s Luke Hines and Scott Gooding.
Plenty of money was raised and went towards the charity Inala – a Rudolf Steiner organisation supporting individuals with disabilities. Proceeds raised from this year’s event go towards the development of a New Day Service Facility for clients with high support needs, $145k has been raised to date. Amazing work!
I can’t wait for next year, I had such an enjoyable time. Perhaps next year, I’ll take my mummy

The JEEP Kurri Burri Polo Classic launched its Mother’s Day event on Wednesday evening to a select crowd of socialites, sponsors, polo players and media at Double Bay’s hot spot, Pelicano – and I was there to enjoy it!
We were greeted by hand crafted signs made with love, by Daimon Downey, exclaiming ‘Pelicano heart mummy’, and making gorgeous references to their sponsors JEEP and Veuve Cliquot. We were also welcomed with delicious canapés provided by Pelicano, who announced they will be hosting a cool, pop-up bar at Kurri Burri.
The event, to be held Sunday May 12, is fast becoming the landmark lifestyle and social polo event in NSW. Event Organisers Yakusan, gave a special thanks to Jeep, Veuve Clicquot, Jaeger Le-Coultre, Shangri La Hotels & Resorts, and Inala for their continued partnership, and welcomed The Classic Safari Company as a new partner for 2013. Gilles Merry (Yakusan MD) also thanked Glenn & Sam Wheatley the entertainment extraordinaires who joined the project to help take the event to new heights in 2013.
Kurri Burri Polo Club CEO, Adam Marshall, was thrilled to announce that the event’s headlining act was to be the talented Prinnie Stevens, one of Australia’s most sought after performers, “Prinnie is a mother herself, and the perfect role model for everything our event stands for.”
Money raised will go towards the charity Inala – a Rudolf Steiner organisation supporting individuals with disabilities. Tony Anderson, CEO, stated, “Since the event began four years ago over $113,000 has been raised for Inala. Proceeds raised from this year’s event will go towards the development of a New Day Service Facility for clients with high support needs.”
The Jeep Kurri Burri Polo Classic is a day for friends and family to enjoy authentic polo competition, country hospitality, gourmet food, beverage and live entertainment, set on a beautiful estate under the back drop of the Blue Mountains.
MINI Garage Sydney celebrated the arrival of the MINI Paceman in Sydney over the weekend to a crowd of socials, MINI enthusiasts and media at Double Bay’s Mrs Sippy.
The Paceman, a handsome addition to the MINI family, is the world’s first Sports Activity Coupé in the premium small and compact vehicle segment.
The sun was shining and the drinks were flowing as everyone was greeted with champagne, Pimms and Peroni on arrival. A variety of canapés such as roasted pumpkin tart with goat’s cheese, lemon pepper prawns and a selection of gourmet wood fired pizzas went down a treat. And for the sweet tooth, everyone enjoyed the Mrs Sippy mini mud pies.
Welcomed by the striking Paceman model parked out the front of the venue – all were left impressed with its innovative combination of sporty, extrovert design, hallmark MINI driving fun and its cutting edge interior.
Unique, yet typically MINI, the Paceman opens up a whole new market for the brand’s unique style. Two doors, large tailgate and lounge concept, with two individual seats in the back; celebrity sexologist Dr. Nikki Goldstein cheekily stated, “The spacious Paceman shows that size does count”.
You know those albums you download for the sake of having it, and a random unknown song pops up on your playlist? You have to ask yourself who it is and take it out of your pocket and check.
Well that’s exactly what I did with Ellie Goulding’s album, Halcyon.
Each time I took it out of my pocket, it was for a very good reason – who is singing this incredible song?
It then very quickly became my favourite album, and even now, it plays non-stop.
Ellie has an incredibly pure, yet rustic voice. She has great range and shows this throughout the amazing experience she produces for you.
Clean, crisp and superbly produced, Halcyon really is a favourite album of mine and stand out tracks for me are the recently released Explosions, Figure 8, My Blood and Don’t Say A Word.
Get on the Ellie Goulding band wagon if you haven’t already… You’ll thank me for it later!
I give this album an 8.5/10.
My cousin and her husband asked me today to be the Godfather of the most gorgeous little boy, Vincent Juan.
Look at this gorgeous little baby, he’s the most perfect little thing and I can’t wait to spoil him, guide him, mentor him and be there for him for the rest of my life.
Love you lots little man xox

New images of burns survivor Matt Golinski surfing the waves off Alexandra Headland are a testament to how far his recovery has come, his supporters say.
Photos snapped by the Peter Hughes Burn Foundation during its workshop for burns survivors on the Sunshine Coast last weekend made it on to the group’s Facebook later in the week.
The aim of the retreat was to bring burns survivors together in an environment conducive to them discussing physical, emotional, social and human interaction issues surrounding their condition.
It was geared towards alleviating and eradicating the social isolation and delivering positive and lasting change to enable them to lead a better life.
Images of Matt catching waves with other friends and burns survivors were shared hundreds of times over social media, accompanied with messages praising them all for their inspirational efforts.
Many marvelled at just how well Matt’s recovery had progressed.
It’s been nearly a year since the fire that claimed the lives of wife Rachael and three children Starlia, Willow and Sage.
The fire destroyed the family’s Tewantin home on Boxing Day and left Matt hospitalised for months fighting third-degree burns to 40% of his body.
In August, Matt vowed to share some of the funds raised for his recovery efforts with other burns survivors, including the Peter Hughes Burn Foundation.
Later in the month, he made his biggest public appearance since the Boxing Day blaze when he ran in the 10km race of the Sunshine Coast Marathon and Community Run Festival.

Downtown Drive-In will feature cinema-quality digital projection in an under-cover industrial venue suitable for all conditions.

The all-new Range Rover from Land Rover was unveiled for the second time in the world at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show yesterday.
Fresh from its world unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in September, the all-new Range Rover will be a highlight of the Australian International Motor Show as it shows off a new modern interpretation of the classic Range Rover design cues.
The all-new SUV has been engineered from the ground up and is the most capable and refined Range Rover ever, capturing the innovative and iconic design of the original model, but with a bold evolution.
Land Rover has ensured the all-new Range Rover sits at the pinnacle of SUV refinement, with a spacious and luxurious interior, enhanced all-terrain performance and a truly composed driving experience.
The all-new Range Rover will be the world’s first luxury SUV with a revolutionary lightweight all-aluminium monocoque body coupled with all-new aluminium front and rear chassis’, resulting in a dramatic weight saving of up to 420 kilograms.
This in turn results in significant enhancements in performance and agility, along with a transformation in fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
“Land Rover really did change the global automotive landscape when it launched the world’s first luxury SUV, the classic Range Rover over 40 years ago,” said Russ Tyrie, Show Director.
“Evolutions of this model over the years saw exciting increases in refinement, performance and comfort – and the fourth generation Range Rover certainly takes luxury SUVs to the next level.
“We are very excited that it will be revealed at the Australian International Motor Show, which also marks the first time it is seen in the Southern Hemisphere.”
Land Rover will also conduct the Australian reveal of the 2013 Freelander 2, which has had a premium overhaul to increase driver comfort, convenience and enjoyment.
Featuring new exterior design features, upgraded equipment levels and a new lightweight petrol engine, the five-star Euro NCAP safety-rated 2013 Freelander 2 is sure to impress all who see it.
The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour from October 19-28, 2012.
For further information about the Show and to purchase tickets, visit www.motorshow.com.auu which is also compatible with all android and Apple mobile devices.
iPhone 5 – The good and the bad.
Bad: Battery life is shocking – worse then iPhone 4, Lightning cable – not so lightening to charge (longer than 4), Maps – alright but not intuitive, depending what apps you use, static lines appear across the screen, Siri – what a joke – the old Voice Control on 4 worked far better, LTE known as 4G comes and goes when it likes – so phone is mostly on 3G, setting up iPhone 5 is not possible if you have an older version MacBook (which led me to buying a new MacBook just to set it up!).
Good: Super fast, Weight, new charger – easy and smaller, sound quality great, new earphone speakers are amazing quality, earphone jack in better location.
Overall: Nothing amazingly outrageous – I wish I considered a Samsung, although I’m a loyal Apple fan. I’m not sure why I am though, I think my loyalty will last as long as one full charge – not long.
I’ve been to many events in Sydney, around Australia and in Europe. Most of these events are perfectly orchestrated, catered and entertained. But I haven’t been to an event for a very long time that was a total invasion of my senses.
Hearing. Seeing. Smelling. Tasting. Touching.
It was the very exclusive opening of Australian candle and bodycare company ECOYA’s Flagship Store on Thursday evening that had me worked up and noticing that every single little detail was covered.
ECOYA candles lined Queen Street, Woollahra and flowers by Grandiflora wrapped lamp posts and street signs and hung from the store’s awning creating an exquisite entrance into the flagship store.
Saskia Havekes of Grandiflora created a decadent arrival to the store, with flowers and lighting hanging from the perimeter of the stores awning – it was simply magical. The colours and textures she used complimented the environment perfectly.
As I arrived, I was cheerfully greeted and given an ECOYA fragrance themed buttonhole flower arrangement before walking into another world that was was music to my ears – literally. Hanna Oblikov and Eliza Morrison of classical music group ASTON entertained us with contemporary songs including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Sneaky Sound System and Coldplay played on the Cello and Violin.
The ECOYA store/interior designer Megan Morton created a very organic and decadent space, with gorgeous 180 test tube chandeliers filled with seasonal flowers. The long wall of mirrors was also a stand out, which had Neale Whitaker of BELLE and many others admiring it. Treated with battery acid, it made a very interesting, yet slightly morbid and distressing look to the space – which all tied in just perfectly.
There were heaps of familiar faces, including Kirstie Clements (below), Donna Hay (above), Adam Ashley Cooper and gorgeous partner Pip Edwards (below), the effervescent Dr Nikki Goldstein, the distinct BELLE Editor Neale Whitaker (above) and lovely Stylist David Novak Piper (above).
We sipped on flutes of Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2002 Champagne, MOA and Steinlager Pure Beer and Santa Vittoria sparkling, but it was the catering that was exceptional. ‘Katering’ put together the excellent combination of canapes, including Salt and pepper barramundi with fresh lime, steamed Peking duck crepes with shallots and hoisin sauce, steamed chicken dumplings with shallot and ginger relish, peppered beef on a potato roesti with truffled aioli and rocket, smashed broad beans, pecorino and mint on charred bruschetta (below) and mini banoffee pies as something sweet to follow. The food was to die for and had every one in the room taking more then what event etiquette would allow.
I also had the pleasure of meeting the wife of ECOYA founder, Lisa Schweighoffer who was easily recognised in her bright yellow Sass & Bide pants! Just like the products ECOYA make, Lisa is a genuine and down to earth person and really in touch with the way people live and lead their lifestyles.
I can’t rave on about this event enough. Everything was perfect and everyone invited was approachable and great to chat to.
Well done to the team at ECOYA.
74 Queen Street, Woollahra.
I don’t know where to start with this review because once the last song was over, I was speechless.
Five years since the last album release, Missy Higgins is back with a smooth and melodious compilation of tunes with the highly anticipated album, The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle.
I expected big things from her, and that she most certainly delivered. Twelve tracks (plus one bonus track) which take you for a ride on Missy’s rollercoaster, will keep you captivated, humming, singing, tapping, clicking and hanging on every last breath the whole way through.
Every track is layered with unique instruments and rare sounds making this a sensory overload. But I do have one recommendation. Listen to this album through awesome speakers so you can really enjoy the full experience, Missy’s voice is so incredibly pure it makes your heart melt. My first listen of the album was on a drive through Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, which the quality and clarity of Bang & Olufsen speakers made all the difference.
I couldn’t have picked a better time or place to listen to this album. Driving through the Australian outback, with a true Australian music icon was an incredible feeling – it really gave me time to listen and listen well, appreciate the voice, the talent and the sight of our own incredible backyard.
I’m not going to go through each track like I normally do, because I could be here all day writing about each one and how amazing it is. But I will make special mentions, which again is most of them; Set Me On Fire, Hello Hello, Unashamed Desire, All In My Head, Temporary Love, Tricks, Cooling Of The Embers and Sweet Arms Of A Tune.
Every track written by Missy, Dan Wilson and Kevin Griffin is immaculately produced by Brad Jones and Butterfly Boucher. This is one production that definitely invades your mind, inspiring you for the better.
It doesn’t just stop at the music – I also love the album cover and artwork, all done by artist Kate Tucker.
I’m just so overwhelmed and in love with The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle – it’s really one sensational addition to my life, which since first play, has been played over and over again.
PS – She is also absolutely stunning, I’ve never seen her look so beautiful!
I’ve been so excited to hear the first track off Missy Higgins new album, The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle.
Unashamed Desire is AMAZING. I love how Missy’s long absence has produced something so great. I’m in love with this song and looking forward to hearing the rest of the tracks in their entirety.
Not only do I love this song, she is also smoking hot! She is looking so gorgeous at the moment. In this clip she looks simply gorgeous.
Stay tuned – I’ll be keeping you up to date on all Missy Higgins news!
THEY ARE BACK! The Queens of Australian television comedy are back with a new movie that is set to blow your Eurotrashy socks off! Well we hope…
Kath Day-Knight and Kimberly Diane Craig née Day head to Europe for a special adventure of love, lust and revolution! Exactly what that means is beyond me – so I’m excited about seeing the affectionately named, Kath & Kimderella in cinemas on September 6.
Joining Kath and Kim is second best friend and fresh out of the closet Sharon Karen Strezlecki, Prue and Trude . We don’t know yet if baby Epponnee-Raelene Kathleen Darlene Charlene Craig, Kelvin Graeme Knight, Brett Dean Craig and will be on the Euro adventure!
I’m super excited about Missy Higgins making a come-back with her new album set to launch June 1, called The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle.
Just yesterday, she showed off the gorgeous artwork for the cover of her album. The artwork is by Melbourne artist, Kate Tucker, who earlier this month was selected as a finalist in one of Australia’s most prestigious art prizes, The Archibald Prize, also with a painting of Missy.
Check out the video below which is the second installment of making ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’ video below. Enjoy!
Missy’s first single Unashamed Desire is due for release April 23! Stay tuned.
It’s been 5 years since Delta Goodrem last released a track! But she is back and sitting on top of the world as it seems.

I’ve been a good boy this year and this is what I want for Christmas. Read below.
Love Adrian”
One gift that I’m hoping to get under the Christmas tree this year is the BeoSound 8 by Bang & Olufsen.

Where ever you want sound, your BeoSound 8 can go. All you need is a power outlet and an iPod, iPhone or iPad which sits securely in the adjustable holder. You’re then ready to go, so be prepared for the awesome sound that is about to grace your ears.
You can also download an app version of the sleek and stylish BeoPlayer for your docked iPad, iPhone, or iPod. You can also adjust sound levels and skip tracks quickly and conveniently on BeoSound 8 itself. Music on a docked or USB linked device can be controlled via the dedicated round remote control.
The conical shape of the speakers is designed this way to create an unobtrusive impression, as well as eliminating standing waves, by avoiding parallel surfaces.

Each time I hear Darren Hayes has a new album, I get really excited, as I did when he launched his fourth solo studio album, Secret Codes and Battleships.
It’s been out since October 2011 but this is definately an album that everyone must have for 2011/2012.
Darren Hayes has presented an assortment of superbly written and melodically immaculate songs, all with that unmistakable voice that beams through the speakers with crystal clear precision.
Nothing pleases me more then having Secret Codes & Battleships playing, whether it’s driving, running, working out, having a dinner party or just simply wanting to sing my heart out!
There are many stand out tracks on this album, Bloodstained Heart and Taken By The Sea are my two special mentions, but also Good Walking Into The Room, Talk Talk Talk and Stupid Mistake are also incredible tracks.
Below is the Bloodstained Heart video – it’s so gorgeous…
Darren has impeccable attention to detail, producing a decadent and emotive album – one of which every household needs to have playing at some stage through the Christmas break.
The 5th of my TOP 10 CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS is one for the kiddies… And adults too! ANGRY BIRDS – KNOCK ON WOOD game…
Most iPhone users would know of Angry Birds – one of the highest downloaded apps and time consuming games out.
This time it is real life and your mission is exactly the same as the touch screen hit! Knock down the planks of wood using a launcher using Angry Birds as your ammunition.
The game is ideal for 2 to 4 players, and for ages 5 years and up.

I have always wanted to visit a yoga retreat, and with a week free just for me at the end of a wonderful European vacation – I booked in for a dynamic yoga retreat at Kaliyoga in Orgivy near Malaga, Spain. The week has been everything I wanted and so much more.
From the minute we walked in to stunning mountain scenery and beautifully welcoming people – you could feel yourself letting go. I was fortunate to have booked when there were only five of us as guests, which meant we really had a great opportunity to bond as a group, but to also get to exposed to so many more people (around 20!) from Kaliyoga and the nearby multicultural village.
Not only did we have two amazing yoga teachers for our morning and afternoon classes, but we were greeted by amazing staff, helpers, chefs, experts on nutrition, and had the options of so many different treatments and workshops. This really made the week – from acupuncture, reiki, quantum and biomagnetic therapy to thai yoga, swedish and aromatherapy massages and raw food cooking workshops – there were some highly talented and friendly people – all there to help us take time out for ourselves, open our eyes internally, and encourage us to relax and rejuvinate.
Olga (a gorgeous Portuguese chef) ran workshops for us on her passion – sexy raw food and raw chocolate – which were a real highlight. Going from eating ham, cheese, and wine around Europe to this amazingly delicious and nutritious food sent my body into total bliss.
We learnt how to make different flavours of chocolate from the superfoods cacao butter, cacao powder, and coconut sugar – our picks being chcolate with fresh mint, orange zest, a hazelnut and date filling, lemon & ginger, and fruit & nuts. We also made a scrumptious take on lasagna – with marinated zucchini as pasta layered with marinated spinach, mushrooms, a walnut paste, and uncovered the secrets to a non cooked tomato sauce.
The week was nothing short of divine. I had more depth in my yoga then ever before, was able to really let go – and left having had amazing mind, body, spirit, (and food!) experiences. I could have stayed for so much longer and I can’t wait to go back for more – perhaps for one of the detox weeks, or even for a bit longer as a volunteer helper (they have a fantastic program where helpers can take part in yoga and activities while doing a few jobs to assist with meals and maintaining the property).
It’s not often enough that we take time out for ourselves, and our wellbeing, and once experienced – your body just wants more. No wonder they have so many repeat visitors!
Now that my big European trip is coming to an end, and I actually and spending time with family and relaxing instead of rushing from city to city, my sleeping pattern has been a little out of whack. Late nights, long sleep in’s, my body clock is all wrong and trying to sleep normally has been pretty tough. Till now.
I found Sleep Stream Pro on the iPhone App Store and I have now used it everyday and night for the past 2 weeks.
So what is it?
Developed in conjunction with sleep and relaxation experts, hypnotherapists and audio professionals, SleepStream 2 plays the most soothing sounds from nature, gentle audio atmospheres, binaural beats, music and guided voice tracks. I especially love the crackling fireplace and the many types of rain choices. The rain puts me to sleep in minutes!
SleepStream 2 is perfect for:
• Sleep induction
• Relaxation
• Power naps
• Meditation
• Noise masking
• Concentration
• Enjoyment
• Tinnitus relief
The sound quality is incredible, the voice sessions are soothing, there’s a choice for power naps, there’s heaps of free content to download within the app and it’s really easy to use.
Check it out, there’s a free lite version, see if you like it, then I suggest you download the Pro version, it has many more options.
Let me know how you go with it!

I’ve just finished up a week in Ibiza with some great friends from Australia. What am amazing time it was!
One of the wonderful things we got to do was visit Formentera, 6kms off the coast of Ibiza – which is part of Spain’s Balearic Islands. The island is only 19kms long, with a population of only 10,000 people.
I went there by yacht and was told to expect beaches similar, if not better then those in the Maldives. I didn’t think it was going to be possible.
But as I walked over the little sand dune and was presented with the photo I took above, I thought I was in heaven. White sand, mixed in with pink sandy ripples, the crystal clear water and the temperature absolutely perfect. This was my kind of place to escape the craziness of Ibiza.
If there is one place you’ve probably never heard of, that is a must see, this is the place! I just wish I had more time there to enjoy it. Next time!
Peter Everett sends a very personal message to all of his loyal fans, who have sent the kindest messages to him through me.
I cannot begin to tell you how touched he is by every one of them, and he has read all of them!
In true fun and spontaneous Peter Everett style, this video was put together for all of you out there. We hope you enjoy it, as well as keeping you in the loop with everything that is going on in Peter’s life right now!

Just because it is now Winter, it doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the gorgeous sunshine Sydney has to offer throughout the crispy season (once this rain goes away!).
Just imagine this.
A gorgeous Sunday, bright clear skies, the sun shining down over Bondi Beach, only the very keen surfers out in the surf, cruising the streets with the crisp zephyr keeping you alert yet enjoying every second of what the positive ions in the air of the beach-side suburb.
Ok I might sound like I’ve taken some drugs and am in some fantasy land. Well I haven’t taken a thing.
You’re wondering why I said “cruising the streets”?
Well that’s because Bondi Beach Cruisers are the only way to get around Bondi (or anywhere else you might live in our stunning country).
Hawaiian beach culture comes to Australia with the opening of Bondi Beach Cruisers, online retailer of quality, stylish and affordable beach cruiser and lowrider bicycles.
Local couple, Resa Pratoni and Belinda Miller, driven by a love of vintage bicycles, launched the brand earlier this year.
Renewed popularity of bicycles and green transportation along with a strong community focus are the basis for this healthy living duo so expect to see them cruising around Bondi on the three available styles: Men’s Southend Cruiser, Ladies Iceberg Cruiser & The TRex Lowrider, all available online now or by pick-up in Bondi by prior arrangement.
I think these cruisers really capture the essence of what beach and Bondi lifestyle is all about. We all have a little beach bum trapped inside of us somewhere, and even if you don’t live anywhere near a beach, this is most certainly something you can ride with pride.

Recently I had a taste of Chiva-Som Luxury Health Resort on our very own soil at the Crown Metropol in Melbourne. My experience was nothing short of heaven on earth.
But what exactly is Chiva-Som Luxury Health Resort all about?
You could quite easily describe Chiva-Som in Thailand is a place to go if you want to experience peace, tranquility, luxury, comfort, and complete titillation of every single one of your senses. Not to mention it’s key benefit – redefining, rediscovering, healing and cleansing the body, mind and soul.
Chiva-Som is quite possibly one of the only places on earth that have mastered the art of taking the human body on a journey of relaxtion, rest, stimulation, health, detox and wellness. It’s quite simply a health resort, but there is nothing simple about it – there is a reason why is it the best in the world. The proof it is the best in earth? Well Chiva-Som is the only spa to consistently appear in the top 3 of the Conde Nast Traveller (UK) Reader’s Travel Awards. Now if that doesn’t say best on earth – not sure what does!
Chiva-Som has just celebrated 15 successful years and is located in the Royal city of Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand, 185 kilometres south of Bangkok. Nestled within seven acres of luscious tropical gardens, the beachfront health resort captures all of those airborne positive ions to begin the rejuvenating process.
There are 58 rooms within the grounds, from charming studios, through to the large and spacious fully contained Thai Pavilions which has everything from a ocean view jacuzzi to a private butler.
With over 200 treatments available, in addition to the 70 treatment rooms, the resort facilities comprise a kinesis studio, gym, watsu pool, flotation pool, large outdoor swimming pool, bathing pavilion with kneipp bath, sauna, steam, jacuzzi, and indoor swimming pool.
So what treatments are available? Well think of it and Chiva-Som most likely has it. Natural healing, physiotherapy, stress release therapy, kinesis, Thai boxing, Abhyanga, Tai Chi, Chi Nei Tsang, meditation, detoxification, weight management, inner peace, physical renewal, oriental therapies plus so much more which would take forever to list!
Now health and wellness isn’t just about what I’ve listed above. It’s not just about yoga or massages, but it’s about food. What goes into your body shows through the skin.
Indulging yourself in our award-winning Spa cuisine is easy. But indulging in organically-grown fruits and vegetables from the Chiva-Som garden is even easier, proving that low calorie, nutritious food can truly be a gourmet experience. Enjoy the elegance of fine dining in the Emerald Room or relax outdoors and the Taste of Siam restaurant by the sea.
Executive Chef, Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat joined Chiva-Som in 2003 fusing his background of Thai and European cuisine with a philosophy of health and nutrition. His popular signature dishes draw people to Chiva-Som from all over the world, and I feel very privileged that I had the chance to taste these dishes for myself, prepared by the master himself right here in Australia.
No matter what it is you are wanting to achieve or gain, there are many different packages available to suit your needs – or create your own. It’s no wonder Chiva-Som is a “Haven of Life”.

Adding to the growing list of concept cars appearing at the Melbourne event, Australian International Motor Show, the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics is a four-seater sports car featuring avant-garde design, futuristic technology, impressive performance and unsurpassed efficiency figures.
BMW says the Vision EfficientDynamics is representative of the future of driving pleasure as a result of ground-breaking drivetrain technology.
The combination of a three-cylinder turbo-diesel with a hybrid synchronous motor at the front axle and a full hybrid engine at the rear axle enables a maximum power output for the system of 241kW.
This innovative technology allows the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics to achieve 0–100km/h in just 4.8 seconds – extremely impressive for a car that also achieves 3.76 litres per 100 kilometres, and a CO2 emission rating of just 99 grams per kilometre.
The eye-catching performance, efficiency and emissions figures are no doubt helped by the 1.24-metre high coupe’s slippery shape – with an aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.22.
As a “plug-in” hybrid, the Vision EfficientDynamics features a lithium-polymer rechargeable battery housed centrally in a longitudinal chassis element, which can be fully charged at a conventional power socket within just two-and-a-half hours.
The electrical stores of the BMW permit zero emissions motoring for a range of 50 kilometres – with the 24-litre diesel tank, that range extends up to 700 kilometres.
While it may look like a motor show-only concept that will never see a showroom floor, the wild-looking vehicle is expected to make it into production as the BMW i8 by 2013.
BMW’s new i sub-brand has been established to focus on developing sustainable mobility solutions, and the i8 has been announced as one of the first two vehicles to launch.
The Australian International Motor Show is on at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and opens at 6pm on Friday 1 July and runs until Sunday 10 July.

On the 25th of April, it was my little sister Simone’s birthday.
I spent a couple of months getting footage together of people she knows and loves wishing her a happy 24th birthday. I gave Simone the video, and she absolutely loved it – she was beside herself.
She is a smart little Down Syndrome girl, she’s very clever, she’s fun and most of all, she is lovable. She loves celebrities, she loves television, she loves movies and most of all loves music. So I made sure I asked the people who will make her smile.
I never planned to make this video public, but I thought it would be a great way to raise awareness about Down Syndrome and urge that everybody does their bit to help these beautiful people feel part of the community. If you want to donate money to the Down Syndrome Association in your state, that too would help tremendously – aiding the people who aren’t as lucky as my sister having a loving home and family around her all the time.
A massive thankyou to:
Simone, we all love you very much and we all hope you had a wonderful birthday!
Love Adrian xox
I recently had one of the most luxurious experiences, where I was pampered and traveled down a path of culinary perfection.
It was a taste of Chiva-Som Luxury Health Resort at ISIKA Day Spa at the Crown Metropol, Melbourne. Chiva-Som joined ISIKA only for a limited time, so that a piece of the resort could be experienced here in Australia.
Chiva-Som Resort brought their skills and their therapists from Thailand to Melbourne to treat and spoil visitors of the ISIKA Day Spa, with a collection of treatments – from heavenly massages to more intense physiotherapy. Although it’s not their entire range of treatments, it gave an insight into the skill these masters have.
But not only did they bring their therapists to indulge the guests, they brought the Chiva-Som Executive Chef, Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat – who created a mind blowing meal, not only unique and carefully designed, but extremely healthy by eliminating sugar, salt and oil.
So I think I should go back and tell you about my experience, right from the beginning.
I arrived at the Crown Metropol in Melbourne and greeted by the lovely concierge, directing me to the reception. “Mr. Erdedi, welcome to Crown Metropol, you are staying in the Health Retreat suite on level 26…”. It sounded very impressive. I gathered my luggage and made my way to the lift to go to the private section on level 26, which is not accessible to people staying in the normal rooms at the Metropol. Already, I was feeling a sense of exclusivity, but also seclusion.
I opened the door to my room and infront of me was a delicate room, with beautiful fixtures, neutrally toned calming colour scheme and floor to ceiling glass, with views over Melbourne CBD. I was in heaven. But in actual fact – heaven had not even begun.
I had time to drop my luggage, have a cup of herbal tea and get ready to go upstairs to level 27 for my treatments at ISIKA, by the Chiva-Som therapists.
Waiting in the retreat lounge, with a cup of aromatic herbal tea, it slowed down the heart rate, calmed my nerves and helped me tune out a little, so I could take in every little bit of my first treatment – a Deep Tissue Massage. My very kind Chiva-Som therapist guided me through to the treatment room, which smelt pleasant, lighting was dim and sounds of the forest in the background. I had stepped into my boudoir for the next couple of hours.
I got comfortable in privacy and comfort, and got ready to relax and be taken on a journey of experience, tradition and health rejuvenation. Using oils, my deep tissue massage began. And this is when I slowly drifted away… After some time, I woke up and turned over. It was time to do it all again, but on my front side. And again… I drifted away.
One hour later, I felt light. Refreshed. Somehow all of my tension diminished and I felt on top of the world.
The experience wasn’t over just yet.
Next up, another gracious therapist came into the room to give me my Chiva-Som Haven Body Polish. No Kenco chamois or sponges to be found. This is luxury. Chiva-Som body scrub was applied limb by limb and rubbed into my skin. Removing the impurities from my entire body. Smoothing the skin and stimulating cell growth. After a wash in my private shower, I was laying down again, having my body moisturised and nourished.
I can’t remember the last time my body felt immaculate.
After I had a nap, I went for a swim in the heated indoor infinity lap pool on level 27, a quick chill in the vitality pool and then 15 minutes in the steam room – all before I got ready for my superb Chiva-Som dinner.
Welcomed to the indulgent level 28 restaurant, ironically named ’28′, a detox cocktail was handed to me and I was taken to my seat which the place setting was gleaming.
If there’s one thing the Crown Metropol has perfected, it’s quality and service.
Chiva-Som Executive Chef, Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat prepared a meal beyond culinary heights.
Courses served up from the Chiva-Som menu included Thai specialties such as seared scallop, quinoa tabbouleh, mushroom confit and beetroot vinaigrette, black cod baked in mustard with lentil dhal, tamarind and mango chutney. For dessert, a poached pear which was absolutely beautiful and lightly sweetened – without any sugar. Every one of Paisarn’s dishes he has created for the mind, body and soul. So no salt, oils or sugar is used in any of his dishes. He uses natural and healthy ingredients to use instead.
After some exceptional wines, great conversation and a short stroll to my suite, I retired for the night.
Waking up the next morning was hard. It was probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I honestly slept in the same position all night, without one single bit of back pain. I normally wake up in the morning stiff and with my joints cracking, but these beds at the Crown Metropol are simply amazing!
It was back up to the restaurant for breakfast. Now I don’t quite know how to describe it. Maybe in three words? VARIETY. INCREDIBLE. ORGANIC? Or maybe FRESH. CHOICE. UNFORGETTABLE? I can’t choose the words to describe the buffet breakfast at the Metropol, but one thing I know is that it’s by far the best one I have ever had in Australia. I’ve been to many resorts nationally, B&B’s, hotels, Day Spa’s, retreats and lodges, but none of them can compare to that of the one at the Crown Metropol. MAGNIFICENT.
So you are probably wondering what this article is about? Is it about Chiva-Som? ISIKA Day Spa? Or is it about the Crown Metropol? Well let me wrap this up for you…
Chiva-Som is no longer available here in Australia for you to try, BUT the REAL Chiva-Som is only a short flight away in Thailand, where the experience will surpass anything you could every expect and experience in your life. There is definately a reason why the likes of Elle McPherson, Dannii Minogue, Megan Gale, Kylie Minogue and Madonna visit this place annually.
ISIKA Day Spa is one of the the most luxurious day spa’s in the country, with an extensive menu to make your choice tough and therapists who know exactly what they are doing and how to look after you and your body.
Crown Metropol is clearly the leading hotel in Melbourne, with incredible choice for the palate, exceptionally well designed with the guests senses as a priority and service which cannot be matched.
These are the 3 reasons why I wrote this article – and these are the 3 reasons why I would do it all over again – no matter how much it costs.
