What projects are you currently working on or have in the near future?
My day job is Styling and I’m currently working on some big advertising campaigns. I work freelance so if you’re ever looking for an ace stylist…
Who or what influences you most in Fashion and home décor?
I’m heavily inspired by European designers both on the Runway and in the home.
What is your favourite piece of clothing or accessory?
I generally don’t like to play favourites with my children I love them all the same… but if I had to choose, I have a very soft spot for my red velvet Prada platforms.
Do you have one feature in your home you love most?
I live on the top floor of a New York style renovated warehouse. I love the floor-ceiling sliding doors the lead you from the living area to the balcony, and I love the skylights throughout… it’s always so light and bright inside! Oh and I love my spare room which is dedicated entirely to racks and racks of clothing and shoes.
Which foods and drinks most excite your taste buds?
Ooh I love all food, but I do get excited about trying new Asian cuisines since I’ve spent so much time travelling through there. And I actually studied Engineering which, among other things, gave me an excellent Beer palette.
What is your greatest extravagance?
I only drink French champagne… the cheap stuff is just not the same.
What advice would you give someone if they were thinking of a career in your industry?
Just do it! You won’t get anywhere by sitting around thinking about it. Volunteer at Fashion events, network, do work experience. In this Industry it is definitely not what you know, but who you know.
How do you maintain a life balance between work and home?
Life Balance??? I do love what I do so I don’t really count it as work, but having said that I am a total work-aholic
Which celebrity wardrobe would you love to raid and why?
I rarely have wardrobe envy but I would love to raid Victoria Beckhams robe… I think she gets it right 99% of the time.
What is your one design rule you like to stick to around the home?
Although I love to have a lot of accent pieces in my living space I don’t deal well with clutter, things like cooking instruments should be tucked neatly away.
My Father always told me…
Be good to your Mother.
Is there a charity/cause that is close to you and if so, why?
I am a Cancer Council ambassador and this is a cause that’s close to my heart as I have personally suffered from Cancer, as I’m sure most people have or know someone who has.
Where is your favourite place to relax in Sydney?
Bondi Beach. Being a QLD girl, I love to soak up the sun and the sights at Bondi.
My signature dish is a Cheese Platter… Trust me, you haven’t enjoyed a Cheese Platter until you’ve tried mine!
The one thing I can’t leave home without is…
A completely fabulous outfit and an uber-positive outlook on the day ahead.
What frustrates you most about Sydney?
The fact that I have to get back on a flight to my home in Melbourne.
Three pet hates?
What is one quality you have, that you hope your children will get and carry through life?
The ability to re-invent and resurface when faced with rejection and adversity.
When was the last time you cried? If you wish to divulge, why?
I cry all the time! Usually tears of gratitude at something amazing that happened in my life!
What is a fashion trend you hope will never resurface?
Crocs are completely unacceptable on every person of every age.
If you were in a position where millions and millions of children globally admired you, what would be the one thing you would want to be a role model of?
I’d be a role model for self-love and self-respect. If you don’t love and respect yourself you can’t love or respect anyone else. And young children, especially young girls need to be more respectful and supportive of each other.
Your best grooming tip?
Spend 5 minutes the night before putting together a fabulous outfit complete with ex-cessories AND get up 5 minutes earlier to give your Hair and Make-up a little extra love. You will be rewarded for your efforts with compliments throughout the day!
