Elitis Moko Wallpaper

February 4th, 2014

20140205-011203.jpg

At first when my interior designer came to my house and suggested the Elitis Moko wallpaper from France, I was skeptical.

I thought about it for a while and decided to take a bold plunge into the very creative and daring world of my designer.

It was the best thing I did.

Every single day I walk past the wall and love it more and more. It honestly is the best part of my home now and when guests come over, they too instantly fall in love.

It’s a flamboyant baroque style, with bright rich colours and a beautiful mosaic texture thanks to the thick vinyl. I think the perfect word to now describe my foyer would be ostentatious.

Thank you Seneca Textiles, Paddington for making my foyer absolutely glorious. It sets a mood every time I walk into my home.

The Collection of Danielle Luquet de Saint Germain

April 30th, 2013

Paris 3

If you just happen to be in Paris during October (as I will be) and a fan of Danielle Luquet de Saint Germain, you’re in for a fashion treat.

It’s the sensational collection sale of one of the largest Haute Couture collections of the last quarter of the 20th century, which will be dispersed at Drouot Richelieu on October 14th, 2013, the first sale of several organized by Gros & Delettrez Auction House is comprised of about 350 stunning pieces.

Danielle Luquet de Saint Germain embodies far more than Yves Saint-Laurent’s beloved showroom model; she was his muse, his inspiration. The celebrated fashion designer even dared to pick ideas from her personal dress style to create some of his most iconic pieces, such as the first women’s tuxedo, the first transparent blouse, or the first ready-to-wear safari jacket.

“She came from Lyon; she had done very little fashion, and when I chose her, I realised that her body and her gestures were typical of today’s women. There they were: I didn’t have to teach her anything! On the contrary, she helped me eliminate any references and reminders that were out of fashion – the dust of haute couture.” – Yves Saint Laurent, LE JOURNAL DU DIMANCHE, 2 February 1969.

“One morning I arrived at the same time as Yves, wearing trousers and a man’s trench coat. When I went up to the studio after the presentation of the collection, he asked me to leave my outfit with him so that he could take inspiration from it.” – Danielle Luquet de Saint Germain, propos recueillis par Alexandre Fiette

SO SAVE THE DATES if you are in Paris:

Preview: October 2-5, 2013. Showroom 12 Drouot, 12, rue Drouot – 75009 Paris.

Viewing at Hôtel Drouot : Saturday October 12th, from 11am to 6pm, and Monday October 14th, from 11am to 12am.

10 CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS – 2. VitaMan Skincare

December 15th, 2011

My second TOP 10 CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEA for 2011 is a special one for the men or man in your life. VitaMan Skincare.

With a range that has won countless awards around the world, VitaMan products are really the only option for taking care of our largest, and very important organ – our skin.

I’ve been using VitaMan products for a good 8 or 9 years now, and really can’t recommend any other brand that suits my skin so perfectly, in every way possible. From shaving, to post shaving care, all the way through to moisturing and hair care, VitaMan products are what have kept my face and body looking and feeling so amazing for so long. Now I know this sounds like an advertisement, but it most certainly is not and the honest truth is that I haven’t yet found a complete skin care range by a brand as great as VitaMan.

All the products are 100% natural, using only high quality ingredients, all Australian made and VitaMan was the first Australian Company to source and introduce new unknown and unique Native Plant/Herb and Fruit extracts into Skin & Hair products. These had previously only been used within the food industry as herbs and spices. The chosen extracts all had a history of use by Australia’s Indigenous people dating as far back as 30,000 years.

VitaMan also have a 100% money back guarantee, they are so confident their products are the best, that they will give you a full refund with the return of your unused portion – no questions asked! But I’ve never had to do this because they are the best!

Now you could be thinking, “I’ve never heard of VitaMan”, but infact, VitaMan is a highly respected brand, used by many A-list celebrities, high end hotels and the world’s top spas. It is even stocked in most high-end luxury department stores in 30 countries including Galeries Lafayette in Paris. VitaMan is constantly wining awards too, this year winning 2 major Spa Awards in Hong Kong in the Asia Spa Magazine‘s Annual Spa Awards. They also won “Best Men’s Spa Treatment” and “Best Men’s Skincare Line”  beating the world top 10 men’s brands.

As a little Christmas gift, I have approached VitaMan and they are offering a 20% discount off all VitaMan products. All you need to do is order by calling 02 9725-6994, and mention ‘ADRIAN’ for the discount, along with your order. Be quick – this offer is available from 15th-23rd of December 2011.

Nomiki Glynatsis Couture – Romance of the Flowers

July 19th, 2011

I don’t normally approach and speak to random people when I’m walking down the street, but this one time I did.

A gorgeous petite girl, with brown ringlets, an elegant couture outfit and shiny black shoes – looking somewhat regal, with a likeness to Josephine Baker, a 1920′s style icon. But it wasn’t the outfit that caught my eye. It was her accessories sparkling at me from meters away.

I said “excuse me, I don’t mean to startle you, but you look absolutely amazing. You look so gracious and just… Just amazing”.

Her name is Nomiki Glynatsis, of Nomiki Glynatsis Couture.

Conceptually born from the extravagant style of the 1920′s, the newest jewellery collection from Nomiki Glynatsis Couture falls nothing short of ultimate decadence.

Elaborately embellished and reminiscent of an Art Deco opulence; each piece has been hand-crafted to perfection and lavishly adorned with jewels.

This collection is called “Romance of the Flowers”, which touches on the essence of romance and femininity spiced with a sence of ethereal charm and beauty. Words really can’t describe how absolutely spectacular this collection is.

Each of the hand-crafted pieces are intricate and delicate in every sense. Nomiki uses a luxurious combination of Swarovski crystals and pearls, using shades of gold, cream and bronze with undertones of silver and antique charcoal. It’s simply a range of sumptuous shades, which are rich, warm and just divine.

A really comforting feature of the collection is the use of vintage beads, sequins and laces sourced both locally in Australia and internationally in Paris.

In 2009, Nomiki took courses at ‘Ecole Lesage’ and also participated in the ‘Paris American Academy’ Couture Intensive Workshop. In 2009 her graduate collection was also featured in the nationally broadcasted NRA Fashion Awards in the Student category. So not only is there love and passion behind each piece, there is skill and experience.

Nomiki’s philosiphy is: ‘Beauty, elegance and perfection, the distinction of fine couture creations’…

The pictures really speak for themselves – I could continue to use words to describe the collection, but they simply dont do it justice.

I urge you to visit the website: www.nomikiglynatsiscouture.com.au

Bondi Designer’s Striking Debut At Social Royalty In Paddington – 2Shae

July 12th, 2011

It is any emerging designer’s dream to have their label discovered by an exclusive boutique and to be chosen for the runway in an elite fashion event.

For Shae Fleming, owner of the brand 2Shae, both happened within a week.

Photo by Eden Connell – Zoom in With Eden

The hard work involved in starting her own label were well worth the effort after being invited to be part of Melbourne Fashion Week as an interstate guest label days after her first collection debuted in the upmarket Paddington boutique, Social Royalty.

Shoppers on Oxford St, including myself, were treated to a surprise on Saturday 25th June, as a team of beautiful models strutted the street towards the boutique wearing 2Shae’s Australian-designed, sourced and manufactured styles. We all know how much I love Australian products!

More than 200 people attended the in-store launch and reveled in the delightful Torbreck wines, which gave that luxurious ‘champagne shopping’ experience, with a fashion parade.

Photos by Ben Scott – Photograph Live

The 2Shae crew included 11 models, a professional hair and makeup team of 5, a video crew, 4 photographers, as well as 3 drivers. “It was a huge team effort,” said Shae. “I wanted to make a scene and make a scene we did.”

Shoppers were forced front row as models strutted the Gould Street shopping strip in Bondi Beach in a guerrilla style parade before jumping into hot cars to take on Paddington’s Oxford Street.

After seeing first hand the success of the event, it came as no surprise to Dana Randall, manager of Social Royalty, who said:

“The designers we choose to stock are the most promising new talents around the world, and we even have labels that have graced New York and Paris Fashion Week, exclusive to Social Royalty in Australia. 2Shae is already proving a ‘must-have’ for our style savvy customers!”

Where do women go to stand out, be different and feel fabulous? Social Royalty Paddington

July 11th, 2011

Paddington went through tough times when Westfield Bondi Junction opened. Stores closed down and Paddington became a ghost town for retailers. But changes in the past few years has seen the fashion mecca of Sydney bounce back and flourish. This is thanks to fresh new blood pumping through the veins of Paddington – Social Royalty.

What makes Social Royalty so unique to Oxford Street are the brands which are exclusive to Social Royalty in Australia and amounts per style are limited. Women who shop there can be one of the very few to own a unique item.

Walking into the store, you’re greeted by the very sweet Dana, who knows the products inside out. The store feels glamourous, but with a warm feeling. The outfits are spaced out around the walls of the store, looking more like an exhibition – they are presented beautifully because they are beautiful.

Mid range to high end, including designers showing at New York and Paris Fashion Week. There are even the most gorgeous bikinis I have ever seen, definately stop here for this summers beach purchase!

The next big names in fashion and accessories can be found here, and you can be one of the first to have it! Watch out for: TRIAS, Carmelita Couture, Agua Bendita, Henry Hall Jeans and more, which are all instore for you to try on and take home!

Recently, Social Royalty was pleased to welcome home grown brand, 2Shae – a new brand by Bondi designer Shae Fleming.

All of the designers are hand-picked from around the world for their originality and talent for design.

Aussie women are cluey about fashion and in the age of The Sartorialist, most women want their own style rather than trawl through one chain store after another looking like everyone else in mass produced pieces. Boutique shopping is what it’s all about and in Paddington you can find all the best Australian designers stores as well as other fab boutiques.

Be sure to get there and walk out of there with a new outfit to slip into and turn heads.

The Fabulous Life Of A Very Fabulous Woman – Judi Hausmann

January 10th, 2011

A character larger then life, a successful hard-working mother, a loving wife and fabulous fashion sense… Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Judi Hausmann.

The CEO behind the 21 year old Sydney based company, Hausmann Communications is one hard working woman. But don’t think it’s just all work, there is plenty play when it comes to Judi and she isn’t afraid to have fun and a great big laugh.

A very generous and very kind person, Judi is straight down the line and tells it how it is. She constantly makes me laugh and she is such a positive person to be around. I’m excited to present to you a very personal insight into the life of a glamorous, stylish and talented woman…

JUDI ON LIFE AND WORK

Judi, you own Australia’s largest communications company. Tell us a little about the company and how you started it…

Only Henry [Roth] has the nerve to call it Australia’s LARGEST communications company!!

In fact I am only claiming to be Australia’s largest independently owned PR agency, but then how would I know really!!!!!

Anyway, in my world its quality, not quantity that counts!!!

I started my own agency full of youthful conviction and determination at the age of 29! if I had known then what I know now, I doubt whether I would have been silly enough to start it!

Almost 21 years later I am so glad I did! I can’t imagine any other job where I could just be paid for being me!

Are there any other projects you are working on now or in the future?

A new health care PR agency we have just set up called Health Haus.

What advice would you give someone if they were thinking of a career in your industry?

Do it, it’s the best career I can imagine!!! But it’s not nearly as glamorous as it may look from the outside!

Is there a charity/cause that is close to you and if so, why?

I am passionate about theatre in general, and the Sydney Theatre Company where I am a Trustee in particular! I have a special interest in making theatre and the arts in general more attractive and accessible to a younger audience!

How do you maintain a life balance between work and home?

I gave up on that years ago! Now everything in my life pretty much falls under the heading of “plerk”, a term my husband coined to describe the confluence of work and play that forms the basis of most of my days!

My Mother/Father always told me…

To talk less – impossible!

When was the last time you cried? If you wish to divulge, why?

Last weekend, peeling onions! I love the ready chopped ones, would much rather pay someone else to cry and ruin their eye makeup!

Greatest lesson learnt?

Came from the Hamburglar in the old Maccas adverts: “keep your eyes on your fries!”. I focus on what I am doing and don’t worry about what everyone else is up to! That way I give everything my best shot and don’t get distracted by others.

JUDI ON FOOD

Which foods and drinks most excite your taste buds?

It’s more like which ones don’t!!! I love food and drink except champagne and Coca-Cola, both of which I think are horrid! Chocolate is my favourite food group!

How often do you eat out and cook at home?

Too often and not nearly often enough!

Signature dish?

My Swedish friend Magnus’s mother’s salmon with dill sauce! I LOVE it!

What is one of your best cooking tips?

Leave some food for the guests! I tend to get carried away with trying things and enjoying my own cooking!!!

JUDI ON FASHION

Each time we see you at events or in the social pages, you are wearing the most fabulous outfits. Who or what influences you most in Fashion?

Nobody really! My friend Grant Pearce (Director of Melbourne Fashion Festival) recently described me as someone who dresses to suit their personality. I think that’s true!

What is a fashion trend you hope will never resurface?

Nothing really, I say live and let live!

Fashion must-have’s?

Black trousers. Lots of ‘em! Missoni jumpers. Easton Pearson tunic tops. And a couple of bolero jackets from my friend the Parisian Haute Couturier, Maurizio Galante (as worn by Judi pictured beside), who makes the most exquisite confections I have ever seen.

Which celebrity wardrobe would you love to raid and why?

I don’t covet anyone elses wardrobe, am very happy with mine!

What is your favourite piece of clothing or accessory?

My enormous bright yellow Valentino handbag (shown in main image at top). I love it so much I gave it a nickname – Big Bird! Its a real conversation starter and has made me lots of new friends!

JUDI ON HER HOME

Who or what influences you most in home décor?

Scott Weston (architect and interior designer).

Home must-have’s?

My bright red 14 seater dining table and lots of colourful Missoni fabrics everywhere.

What is your one design rule you like to stick to around the home?

The more colour the better!

Do you have one feature in your home you love most?

The red Bisazza tiled powder room, its like a little jewel.

What is your kitchen like?

Its a combination of three Poliform showroom kitchens that my friend Khali gave me for a song when he was selling his share in Poliform to Space. They were closing down part of the showroom just as we were moving into our house, so he brought 3 kitchens over on a truck and we did a jigsaw puzzle, ending up with some cabinets in frosted glass, some in cherry wood and some in vanilla lacquered finish! I like the random effect.

JUDI ON LIFESTYLE

Where did you grow up?

Sydney’s Eastern suburbs.

Where is your favourite place to relax in Australia?

My friend Mandy’s front verandah on Lang Rd, facing Centennial Park. True story!

What car do you drive, best thing about the car and why you bought it?

I LOVE my car! Its a bright blue Porsche Cayenne S with beige upholstery and a huge moonroof. It goes like the clappers, still looks brand new after 3 years and is seemingly indestructible! I call it the Nana Porsche and I bought it cos I liked it! Actually it took 6 months to arrive because I ordered so many special features! It has everything you can think of – TV, DVD – like a lounge room on wheels!

What is your greatest extravagance?

My lifestyle! I believe I deserve everything!

Where would be your ultimate holiday destination?

I am obsessed with going to Tallin in Estonia! I haven’t made it there yet but keep meaning to go.

The one thing I can’t leave home without is…

My glasses – otherwise I can’t read anything!

If you could be a fly on the wall of any celebrity home, who’s wall would you like to sit on?

Soooo not interested in celebrities or gossip! I am happy for them to have their privacy! And I would really HATE to be a fly!

Three pet hates?

1. Nasty people

2. Stingy people

3. Cruelty to animals

(One good thing and one bad thing about each)

Fame

Good – You get lots of fabulous freebies

Let’s Meet The King Of Hair And Looking Younger – Troy Thompson

September 20th, 2010

Troy Thompson is definately a man who knows what he wants. He set out young, trying to achieve a goal – and guess what, he ge got it.

A caring and thoughtful person, he takes good care of those people close to him. He works hard, endless hours – but enjoys every minute of it.

The successful Troy Thompson Hairdressing Salon in Rose Bay (soon to be Potts Point) has seen him grow from strength to strength, eventually getting his own role on the hit TV show, 10 Years Younger in 10 Days.

How do you maintain a life balance between work and home?

Not sure how to answer that, at this point in my career I don’t have a balance, but I’m happy with that as I’m a work horse, and I love going to work, I’m happy to work 10 to 12 hours a day and more if I could.

Which celebrity wardrobe would you love to raid and why?

Tom Ford, because he makes it look simple and easy, and that’s what it is all about for me. Plus I’ve always wanted to get into his pants.

How did you get into doing what you do?

Well funny you ask that, I often think the same thing but it always comes back to arriving in Sydney from the country and not knowing what i could do, i knew I could plat a horses tail and do a great braid as well, so i decided to become a hairdresser and remember there were lots of apprenticeships back then so it was easy.

My Mother/Father always told me…

You’re on your own.

Is there a charity/cause that is close to you and if so, why?

I’m a ambassador for the Ted Noffs Foundation, i want to help this cause as they look after kids with drug related problems and people shy away from these issues, it could have been me if I didn’t get that guiding hand, at a crucial age.

How often do you eat out and cook at home?

Just about every night, i don’t like to cook for my self so i go out.

Nothing I love it and everything about it, we are so lucky to live in the most amazing city.

God I cry all the time I’m a big sook. But I won’t tell you why i last cried because I’ll cry again, I love crying. It’s good for you.

What car do you drive, best thing about the car and why you bought it?

I don’t drive I have a full time car service and its fab, I love Phil the driver he has looked after me for so long I wouldn’t know what to do without him anymore.

Tonight at 9pm on channel 9 after Top Gear, “The Real Hustle” will air which I’m quite excited about watching. Hosted by Gyton Grantley, this is going to be one series to watch!

Most people think they could never be duped and conned, but every year one in three Australians will be exposed to some sort of scam. It might be you handing over your hard earned cash unless you learn the inside tricks of the thieves’ trade on this TV show.
Filmed with hidden cameras, a team of three Australian hustlers, along with their counterparts in the UK and USA, carry out some of the most notorious scams ever cooked up on unsuspecting members of the public.

Here in Australia three practised con artists pull off the scams. They are Clare Werbeloff, better known as the infamous “chk-chk boom” girl who became an overnight sensation after conning the media by fabricating an “eye-witness” account of a Kings Cross shooting in 2009; the so-called “honest con-man” Nick Johnson, an expert swindler who knows every trick in the book; and Adam Mada, a sleight-of-hand expert, trained magician and master of manipulation.

These hustlers show how easy it is to rip off a stranger, extract cash from the unsuspecting, and steal your belongings in seconds. This awesome series will feature more than 30 spectacular scams and expert advice on how to avoid being ripped off, with tips from Detective Superintendent Colin Dyson of the NSW Fraud Squad.

There is a disclaimer though for those of you who watch it: “All the innocent people who were in fact scammed during the making of The Real Hustle have been given their money back. They also agreed to let the footage of them being conned be broadcast as a warning to others.”

Chanel Skin Art at Myer – Les Trompe-l’oeil De Chanel

August 4th, 2010

A little while ago, Lara Bingle made famous the Chanel temporary skin art, Les Trompe-l’oeil De Chanel.

As soon as she attended the Allan Border Medal gracefully covered in the skin art, Australian women (and men) went crazy over it and wanted it for themselves. They quickly became hard to get and disappeared (much like Lara) from the Chanel counters at Myer. They are now once again available and ready to transfer onto your skin for something a little different.

In my opinion, it’s a little tacky, but at the same time it’s a little bit of fun and with the 55 exclusive individual tattoos in the pack, you can put them anywhere and design whatever you like as seen above. They are hand-drawn by Peter Philips, the Global Creative Director of Makeup for Chanel which were designed for the Spring/Summer 2010 Fashion Show in Paris.

Get your pack from the Myer counter for around $35.

The House of Boucheron Creates Perfection

March 18th, 2010

If you know me well, you will know I love my jewelry – especially rings. There’s nothing more luxurious then wearing an outstanding ring made of gold, rather large in size and striking. For men, just one signature ring, women can get away with more.

I have a Bulgari 5-band B-Zero white gold ring, which I am starting to get over now. So I am on the search for a new piece which is something special. As I’ve got older, I’ve thought I could start to drift into the yellow and white gold combination.

I can stop the search. I have found exactly what I want.

This is the Quatre Ring Diamonds made by the French jewelry makers, Boucheron. This ring is actually made of white, yellow rose and chocolate gold. I didn’t even know chocolate gold existed! The exquisite effects used on this ring make it one dramatic piece. It has an embossed rose gold, a white gold with a row of diamonds, a chocolate embossed diamond point and a yellow godron motif. Priced at $12,100 with diamonds. There is an option without diamonds, $5950.

If this is not one of the most beautiful men’s rings you have ever seen, I’m not too sure what is?
