You often read about the latest treatments and lasers promising the world, but how often do you walk out of a clinic after a treatment feeling 10 years younger?

I was recently commissioned to trial Laser Genesis and document my thoughts on the overall treatment. The timing was impeccable as my skin was feeling slightly tired, so I was definitely cheering.

Laser Genesis uses high power microsecond pulses at high repetition rates to safely heat the dermis, stimulating collagen and reducing redness. The procedure utilises non-invasive laser technology to safely and effectively treat fine line wrinkles, large pores, uneven skin texture and diffuse redness and scars. Most patients will see subtle, yet consistent results after each treatment, with zero unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation.

Clinic3I found several clinics within my area that offered Laser Genesis, so finding a location wasn’t hard. However, I am a firm believer that every one of your senses needs to be tantalised when splurging money on yourself. After all, you are investing money in yourself to feel good, so an overall experience played a big part in this for me.

One of the first clinics I came across was Lily Room, situated in a very private street in Chatswood. I proceeded to call the clinic and booked my first appointment, much to my delight.

I must say, I was slightly nervous going to my first appointment. I had a million thoughts racing through my head. Was this place going to be any good? Was the treatment going to work, or was my skin going to be worse off?

As I entered Lily Room, the first thing I was welcomed by was the inviting scent throughout the clinic and a friendly face with a beaming smile welcoming me to their clinic. The rooms were beautiful and lit to make you feel very welcomed.

Once I was in the treatment room, the specialist made me feel extremely comfortable and explained how the treatment was going to work and that I would have a course of six treatments. I was also told the laser feels like the sun tingling against your skin.

Treatment time, the eye pads were gently placed on my eyes and the treatment began. I must say, the laser definitely did feel like I was laying in the sun, and in a strange way – I found it extremely soothing and not at all painful, as previously believed.

I have always had fairly good skin, however, it most certainly has its moments. I have to admit, my main concerns have always been my pores and the few fine lines that are creeping up as I am entering my 40s.

After my first treatment, I noticed my skin to be plumper and had a natural glow to it. However, I was promised the final results would be visible after the course of 6 treatments. This however did not stop me from constantly admiring myself in the rear view mirror on my way back in to the office.

As the technician mentioned, the results were most certainly visible after the 6 treatments. My pores are dramatically reduced and the texture of my skin has never felt better, and much to be excitement, the fine lines around my eyes are virtually unnoticeable.

The treatment requires your dedication, as you will be need to frequent the clinic once a fortnight. However, if you are contemplating investing in a laser treatment, do yourself a favor and book yourself in for Laser Genesis.

It takes a lot to impress me, and I can honestly say I am extremely impressed with the treatment and am a devoted fan.

If you are in the Sydney area, do yourself a favor and see the ladies at Lily Room, you will not be disappointed.

Cold-Pressed Juicers – The Good and Not So Good!

June 24th, 2015

Reviewed and written by Romel Kouyan

If you’re health conscious and always on the lookout on how to accelerate in to a healthier lifestyle, I’m guessing you would have read a little about cold press juicing and the benefits it delivers to your health.

We’ve heard countless celebrity testimonials and the health professionals telling us it’s the only way to consume our glass of green goodness.

They claim to have an endless list of health benefits that legitimises a price tag of $10 for a bottle. But is cold press juicing really better than a more traditional method of extracting your fruit and vegetables?

Here’s the thing, no one can actually prove the added health benefits when it comes to cold press vs traditional juicing. I mean, if you read the science behind the theory it makes sense and I tend to immerse myself in the latest fads and super foods in the hope to slow down the ageing clock and live an eternaly happy and healthy life. With that simple fact in mind, I am sold and will most likely never consume another glass of traditional juice ever again.

Now, to which cold press juicer is best. Will a pricey machine do a better job than a more affordable one? Well, I put three leading machines to the test and here’s what I found.

JE9000_sliderzoom_3

First up, Sunbeam slow juicer claims to “Produces a generous amount with minimal effort thanks to its low speed juicing method to gently press and squeeze your selected foods, extracting nothing but high quality juices.” I found this machine to be fairly quiet, easy to clean with minimal pulp in the final product. This is the perfect machine for those wishing to adopt the cold press concept, without the hefty price tag. Highly recommended!

juicepro_red

The second machine I road tested was the Pro Appliance JuicePro. This machine has a unique low speed technology for healthier juices and automatically removes unwanted pulp. Once again, I found this juicer to be quite easy to use, cleans quickly and stores quite easily without taking up too much space. It comes with an extremely affordable price tag for all its yummy goodness.

Lastly, the Vitality 4 Life’s Oscar Neo. At a fairly hefty price tag, my expectations were fairly high. So how did it weigh up against its competition?

da1000_chromeI generally like my appliances to look pretty and at first sight, I found the OscarNeo to be bulky, quite heavy and not easily stored away. It’s definitely not the prettiest thing I have set eyes on, so after juicing you’ll probably want to hide it to prevent visually offending your guests.

Once the juicing began I was slightly underwhelmed as it didn’t receive the fruit and vegetables as easily as its counterparts. I found the OscarNeo to be an extremely heavy juicer, making it quite difficult to move or to store away. The juicing process is also quite tedious as the shoot is fairly small, so a fair amount of time needs to be invested in cutting up your fruit and vegetables into bite size pieces. Like juicing wasn’t difficult to begin with!

The juicer also tends to get clogged up quite quickly, so you’ll have to pull it apart and give it a clean before commencing to juice again.

The final product wasn’t too bad if you like pulp in your juice, if not, this is not the juicer for you. I do have to admit though, the best part is the vibration it releases – so hold on to your juicer for an overall body vibration exercise!

So there you have it people, my pick would either be Sunbeam or the

Pro Appliance JuicePro. Both extremely easy to use, light weight and fairly compact whilst delivering great results. This is a perfect example that a hefty price tag doesn’t always mean better quality.

NaraCamicie Flagship Store Opens In Paddington – Meet The Owners

December 5th, 2012

It’s finally here in Australia – and here to stay and spoil us rotten with quality, Italian style and design.

Naturally I’m talking about NaraCamicie, the Italian label which has taken most countries of the world by storm!

Right here in Paddington, Sydney, store owners Angela and Alex opened Australia’s flagship store. It’s an edgy and funky store with everything so easily to see and feel – it’s quite a sensory experience.

I caught up with Alex and Angela at the store to talk all things NaraCamicie and fashion.

How NaraCamicie start and why did you decide to launch the brand in Australia?

We came across the brand while honeymooning in Italy and specifically Venice in 2006. We were instantly captivated by the quality, styles and price range. We ended up purchasing many shirts and after arriving back to Australia we were continuously receiving positive feedback every time we wore a Nara shirt. It was obvious to us that there was a gap in the Australian market for European style shirts. After many visits to Italy we decided that it was time to take the big step to launch the brand to the Australian market in 2012. We carefully studied what other brands were offering and again it was very clear that Australians were in need of something different. This was what prompted us to launch.

 Where is NaraCamicie stocked overseas?

There are over 600 stores worldwide. All over Europe, Asia, North and South America as well as Africa. There are more stores opening monthly in every major city around the world.

Do you think it will have the same success here in Australia?

Our sydney flagship store has been open for 2.5 months now and the response has been fantastic. NaraCamicie has been a success all around the world and we truly believe Australia will be as well. Many Australians that have travelled abroad have come in the store or contacted us via email and phone, expressing their excitement that finally their favourite shirt brand has reached the Australian shores. It is only a matter of time that NaraCamicie becomes the authoritarian in the shirt industry in Australia.

There has been a positive reaction to the brand with stylists and celebrities visiting the store. Why do you think the brand is attracting these influential people? What is the ultimate goal for the brand?

They are attracted because simply Naracamicie offers something unique and the styles and cuts are very European. There are over 200 styles of shirts offered per season from casual, business, evening and formal. Nara has been for many years present in all major publications around the world, numerous fashion shows and has been established in the fashion world for 28 years.

Are you planning on opening more stores in Australia? When and where could we expect to see them?

We are planning on opening in every major city in Australia in the next 5 years. New Zealand is also of interest.

How do you think the fashion industry differs to that of Europe?

Australian fashions tends to be more conservative and simple. There is however a desire for different styles that are more colourful and edgy. Nara offers exactly that.

The store fit-out in Paddington is very modern and edgy. Do you find that this is reminiscent of the exceptional European style and design?

The Nara store concept is the forefront of designer shop fitting. Designed by a leading Italian architect, it is simple and elegant, modern and edgy and gives emphasis to the beautiful shirts displayed. The comments we have received from customers and other retailers is that they have never seen anything like it!

Reasonably priced fashion, excellent quality and Italian made – do you think these are the three things that shoppers in Sydney look for? What else do Sydney shoppers look for do you think?

We believe that Sydney shoppers are continuously searching for something that is priced correctly, is of outstanding proven quality and at the same time unique. We have had customers come back to tell us that the feedback they received when wearing one of our shirts was amazing. Whoever wears a Nara shirt is noticed simply because the patterns and fabrics of a Nara shirt is fresh to the Australian market.

What styles and colours will we expect to see in the new season?

Our current spring/summer collection focuses on bright colors and flora prints without stemming away from the traditional whites.

For our upcoming autumn/winter collection darker hues and simple black and whites are back in. Grandpa collars for men and satin prints and frill shirts for women will be evident.

Over 150 styles for both women and men will be available.

What is your personal style, when you are socialising or at events and not in the store?

Smart casual, chic and edgy. We do not only sell Nara shirts, we also love wearing them!

What is a MUST HAVE item for guys and girls this season from NaraCamicie?

Guys: definitely short sleeve grandpa collar shirt

Girls: 3/4 floral print shirt

Sydney Kings Basketball Team Launches New Season In Style

October 14th, 2012

WHAT AN EVENT!

This was definately the one of the week… Perhaps the one of the month!

Sydney based basketball team, The Sydney Kings, threw a star‐studded cocktail event to celebrate the launch of their up‐coming season. My oh my, what an event it was!

‘The Night Parrot’ on William Street glowed to the passing traffic and pedestrians, as the exterior of the heritage‐listed building was lit with the Kings colours, purple and yellow with light installation projectors. As we came down William Street, we knew exactly where the party was at.

The path outside the building was lined with large white plinths, leading to the front gate and venue entry where the vibe was electric. Through the gate and down the ‘purple‐carpet’ we were greeted by a media pit that had every celeb, A-list to D-list getting interviewed.

As we left the purple‐carpet and moved inside, we were greeted by welcoming wait‐staff serving incredible hand crafted canapés and drinks. The large space was decorated with floating purple lights hanging from the rafters, elegant purple and gold tablecloths over high cocktail tables and music flowing from the resident Sydney Kings DJ, Jordan. The ambience was that of a sophisticated cocktail party, and every single one of us were immediately impressed.

The delightfully gorgeous NATARSHA BELLING greeted us as the official host, announcing the give‐away of two, business class return tickets to Los Angeles from UNITED AIRLINES. As soon as I found my spot with my friends, the gorgeous wife of LARRY EMDUR, SYLVIE, ran over to me asking what I was going to tweet for the chance to win the business class airfares. Why do I love The Sydney Kings and what I would do in LA, with the hashtag #UnitedHoops was all I had to do to enter! But sadly, I didn’t win. Natarsha announced the very lucky winner of the return tickets to Los Angles. Tweeting, ‘@TheSydneyKings Go shopping JuliaRobertsPrettyWoman style and see if they’d serve me in the Lion suit #UnitedHoops’, the lucky winner was Holly Kagis!

After the formalities were concluded, Natarsha announced the performance of COSIMA DEVITO, the first independent Australian artist in history to have a debut number one single, ‘Right Here, Right Now’. Cosima put on an outstanding, rock-solid performance, proving she is going to be a come-back! Following Cosima was the new talent from Sony Music MIRACLE performing his new single ‘Party of the Year‘, and then finishing the night off with WHAT ABOUT TONIGHT performing ‘Year 3000’ and ‘Pay Phone’, contestants from the current season of the X FACTOR on Channel 7.

After an evening of great Alizè cocktails, champagne and delicious food, my group left very happy with a heavy gift bag containing a heap of treats to spoil myself with. You can never leave feeling empty when you’re leaving with a bag this full!

Other guests included the very sweet SKYE LECKIE, JOHNATHAN NOTLEY from Bliss n Eso, Editor ROS REINES, singer and dancer TIMOMATIC, ‘I Will Survive’ contestants TOM SHARAH and STEPHEN MAHY, Model and DJ ROCHELLE FOX, ‘The Morning Show’ on Seven co‐host LARRY EMDUR, DR NIKKI GOLDSTEIN, gorgeous SHELLEY HORTON, Home & Away star DAN EWING and his delightful fiancé MARNI LITTLE, Breakfast on Ten co‐host MAGDALENA ROZE, BARRY DU BOIS and my favourite Spaniard MIGUEL MAESTRE from Channel 10’s The Living Room, Home & Away stars LINCOLN YOUNES and NIC WESTAWAY, star of ‘Underground’ ALEX WILLIAMS, JORDAN FINLAYSON and JIMMY REILLY from Channel 7’s Beauty and the Geek, actor and model JUSTIN MELVEY.

This was a star studded, food flooded, cocktail covered event which had the biggest and whitest smiles on everyone’s faces. A truly memorable time…

I must give a huge credit to the fantastic effort Running Romeo PR put in to make this event a success. It’s not often the people who actually organise and run these events on the night get a mention or credit, but these guys did an AMAZING job! Well done!!

Passionate About Design in Waterloo

April 18th, 2012

I recently produced an Easter photo shoot which required some props. I sent a call out to some close friends and a designer friend of mine suggested I visit a new furniture and design store called PAD in Waterloo.

Off to Waterloo I went to see what this store was all about. I parked the car across the road and looked into the window displays. I immediately knew this place was ME. I couldn’t get inside fast enough to discover the world of rich and rare opulence.

PAD = Passionate About Design. That they most certainly are.

This place is a wonderland of gorgeous pieces, new and refurbished. Intricate patterns, fabrics, designs and collections which all team together beautifully to create the most special of spaces in your home. The photos really speak for themselves.

I’m totally in love with this place. Even just a walk around the store with no intention to purchase puts you into a special space in your mind and emotionally. It is so cleverly laid out, the natural light pouring in from the old warehouse roof, the burning candle scent wafting around the space and the attention to every detail is perfect for waking the senses.

The team at PAD are passionate about providing a complete service for their customers. They are more than happy to discuss the room you are decorating, taking into consideration the colour scheme, soft furnishings and existing furniture pieces to pull your look together. Bring some photos and take advantage of their Interior Decorators’ free advisory service.

If you are looking for a particular piece, or an elusive accessory, they are able to source both vintage and new pieces from their vast network of suppliers. From lamps and armchairs, to mirrors and tables, and everything in between – they will have you covered.

I suggest you get to the store as soon as possible, so you can see, feel and smell the experience for yourself.

Meet Romel Kouyan – Smart, Sexy And Successful

August 16th, 2010

Romel Kouyan, one of the most down to earth people I know. He has the time of day for anyone, he cracks me up constantly with his silly gags and ridiculous jokes. Always dressed in designer clothing and scents, driving the hottest car at the time and eating at the best restaurants. He has worked damn hard for it though. Romel is probably the most business minded person I know as well.

There’s no messing around with Romel. When he says he will do something, he does it. Because of this, he has created himself a mini Empire of successful businesses of the things he knows best.

Switched on, funny, strikingly good looking and a true figure of class and sophistication. This is Romel Kouyan…

What projects are you currently working on or have in the near future?

I’m working on many at the moment… My companies, Romel Management and Paparazzi – Celeb 4 A Day keep me very busy. I am always working on new ideas I can implement and am currently putting in a brand new package at Paparazzi for Brides and Grooms looking at getting the celebrity treatment on their special day.

Who or what influences you most in Fashion and home décor?

I can’t say that I’m influenced by anyone in either. I am however influenced by the mood I am in at the time. For me fashion is about wearing something that feels right. If I’m feeling out there and think a chandelier would look great on me, then that’s what I will wear!

A couple of years ago I was attending an awards night and I wore a cashmere throw as a sarong. It kept me very warm and looked amazing. I have no reservations. If I feel like doing it, ill do it!  My home however has to feel calm with good energy flow throughout all the rooms. It must be lightly lit with hundreds of Aveda soy candles. So I can’t say that I follow trends at all. I am my own trend!

What is your favourite piece of clothing or accessory?

My favourite piece of accessory would have to be a belt that was made for me by many bike chains. As for clothing, I’d have to say my new Gucci suit, but it changes every week.

Do you have one feature in your home you love most?

Yes my 10 foot mirror.

Which foods and drinks most excite your taste buds?

It depends… If I’ve been out drinking it would have to be McDonalds. Lots of it! If I’m feeling really hot, then its seafood. Oysters in particular.

What is your greatest extravagance?

My brand new Range Rover!

Greatest lesson learnt?

Always have good balance in life…

What advice would you give someone if they were thinking of a career in your industry?

Be passionate, creative, competitive, and always make sure you have honest people around you who have your best interest at heart.

How do you maintain a life balance between work and home?

When you are a young business there is no balance. Your business is all you should focus on. If I wake up in the middle of the night with an idea I will get my Blackberry and document it otherwise it drives me crazy.

Which celebrity wardrobe would you love to raid and why?

Jean Paul Gaultier and Alexander Mcqueens. Except I wouldn’t be raiding it, I’d be stealing it all.

How did you get into doing what you do?

I was scouted at Home Nightclub by model scouts from New York in 1997. I then flew to the States where I lived and worked as a model for 2 years. It pretty much snow balled from there on.

What is your one design rule you like to stick to around the home?

Mirrors mirrors mirrors… Lots of them and the bigger the better! Nothing like seen all of you!!

My Mother/Father always told me…

That I didn’t have what it takes to do what I’m doing right now. Weren’t they wrong!!

Is there a charity/cause that is close to you and if so, why?

Yes lots! Any charity that raises money to find a cure for Cancer and Aids… Also, children and animals are very close to my heart.

Where is your favourite place to relax in Sydney?

My bedroom.

How often do you eat out and cook at home?

I love to cook, so I eat home quite often. But I do enjoy great food at a good restaurant.

Signature dish?

Hmmm I’d have to say seafood! Prawns cooked with garlic, chili’s and coriander.

Your thoughts on Australian fashion in comparison to International fashion?

I think we have a very cool and unique style in Australia. We have definitely come a very long way.

The one thing I can’t leave home without is…

My mobile phones.

What frustrates you most about Sydney?

Its boring and conservative… Hence why Paparazzi – Celeb 4 A Day kicks arse. I just feel that there needs to be more good drama on Sydney streets.

If you were Clover Moore, what would be the first thing you’d inject money into fixing?

I’d inject quite a lot of money in sending out fashion police 24/7 to confiscate all fake designer hand bags. I’m so over looking at it.

Favourite beach in Sydney and why?

Hmmm I don’t have a favourite. They are all great. We are very blessed to have the beaches we do here.

If you could be a fly on the wall of any celebrity home, who’s wall would you like to sit on?

Kylie Minogues…. I don’t think we ever see the real Kylie… Any excuse really. She’s adorable.

Three pet hates?

1. Bad manners

2. People spitting on the streets

3. People picking their nose in public. I don’t get it!

What is your one diva/divo demand?

Lots of cameras where ever I go and scented candles. I usually get my PA to carry one in each hand every where I go. Kidding!

Only cos I can’t get her to agree to it.. I am slightly scared of her as she has more muscles than I do so I don’t push it with her. I’m too scared of her back hand.

Where would be your ultimate holiday destination?

I love going to Byron…

What is one quality you have, that you hope your children will get and carry through life?

My persistence and drive.

When was the last time you cried?

I can’t remember to be honest… I do cry quite a bit though…

What is a fashion trend you hope will never resurface? (eg. Hyper-colour shirts!)

I think all trends are good and can work on the right person.

What car do you drive, best thing about the car and why you bought it?

A Range Rover… I love its size. I bought it cos I liked it.

If you were in a position where millions and millions of children globally admired you, what would be the one thing you would want to be a role model of? (eg. Body image, drugs etc…)

I’m very anti drugs so I’d love all kids to know that you do not need drugs to have fun.

What is your favourite website?

AdrianErdedi.com of course!!!

www.romelmanagement.com.au
